As a mother, nanny, birth and postpartum doula and lactation counselor I have developed the innate ability to nurture families and assist them in adjusting to life with a newborn. I have training as a Birth and Postpartum doula, Lactation counselor and newborn care specialist and can provide newborn care education, breastfeeding support and parenting instruction, while also offering immense experience within the home and hospital with new parents and newborns. As a student midwife I am dedicated to expanding my education regarding the child-bearing years and am dedicated to assisting families through every stage of parenting. I come with outstanding recommendations and am known for providing quality, nurturing and loving care to newborns and their families from conception to postpartum. I have experience with multiples and children of all ages.

When we came home from the hospital with our preemie, we knew we needed help. We were put in touch with Afrika, and she helped us for the first 5 weeks of our baby's life. We could not have survived without her extensive knowledge and experience of newborns, caring personality, and calm demeanor. She helped us stay calm throughout tough nights and taught us many tips and tricks for preemies and for babies in general that we otherwise would not have known. We are so appreciative of Afrika and would highly recommend her to anyone in need!

Full-Time Caregiver/Nanny

I have cared for children of various ages for the past 30 years, off and on. My first care-giving experience started when I was 19 years old at a daycare center, ages of children ranging from 6 months to 4 years old. I was the primary assistant to the day care provider/owner. I was in charge of maintaining safety for the children, hygiene care, food preparation, basic learning skills, naptime, and other various duties. From then on, I got married and had four children (3 girls, 1 boy), whom I homeschooled from pre-school to high-school. One child has successfully graduated from Temple University, the other is in her senior year at her university, the other is in her first year at a nearby community college, and the youngest is in his final year of high school. My experiences teaching my children has given me the skills, abilities, and knowledge of care giving children at any age level. I have also had a home-based care business during the years of home-schooling my children; the children ranged in ages from 6 months to 4 years old. I delight in seeing children being properly cared for, growing and developing, excited about learning, and in a warm and loving environment.

April is a gentle, compassionate nanny who knows how to guide and teach children easily. I have never heard her raise her voice or express anger in any way. She intuitively practices child behavior methods which I learned as a certified teacher. My grandchildren love her (and so do I).
