Hospice of Tifton is a horrible hospice. They only spent 5-10 minutes with my husband a day. they wiped him with a damp rag and called that a bath. They KNEW that I was struggling to care for him and that he never should've been sent home from the hospital but that wasn't "their" problem. I NEVER would've gone with a hospice service but I was led to believe that they didn't do just end of life care anymore but extended life care as well. What a joke that turned out to be. Their objective was to ease him on out as quickly as possible and that's exactly what happened. I finally had to take him to the hospital for respite care because I was so exhausted. When I told them that I didn't think that the hospice aid was doing HER job, she called my daughter and said that I wasn't taking care of my husband! My closest friends and family KNOW how I was struggling and I was taking care of my husband to the best of my ability. They were just trying to cover their own butts! A couple of times, my husband messed himself in the early hours of the morning, around 3:00 am. I called the hospice nurse on call after struggling to clean him up myself for about 45 minutes. I was told that "it's not OUR job to clean up patients. I'll be there when I can get there." In disbelief, I called up a close friend of the family's, one strong enough to help me lift him and clean him. the nurse showed up 4 hours later. Does this sound like a hospice that anybody would want to use? I wouldn't refer my dog to them!
