Therese Carter's Care Background
To Whom It May Concern:
I am currently a mother of three small boys, who I adore. I come from a family of seven children. My brother Billy is mentally retarded and I have done a lot of volunteering in this field. He also has epilepsy and suffers from seizures. As a result he is on many medications, which I have had to give to him. I have a soft spot for special needs, the elderly, children. I am a people person and I really enjoy taking care of others.
While I was in college, quite a few years ago, I took care of my neighbor, who was 93 years old. I would take her food shopping, out to lunch, light housekeeping, etc. She was an amazing woman and I loved being around her. The elderly are so wise, we can learn so much from them.
Another job I had in college was working in a group home for four behavioral special needs men. My shift was from 3:00 - 11:00 p.m. I had teach these men personal hygiene, light housekeeping, how to prepare lunches, dinners, snacks. I taught them how to do their laundry and anything else that may make them more independent. You had to have quite a bit of patience, because two of the men were aggressive and I had to learn how to restrain them. I had to make sure they didn't get hurt. It was very stressful at times, but for the most part it was very rewarding. I worked for an organization called Vinfen, Inc. Brighton, MA.
I have been home raising my boys for the past 10 years and I would love the opportunity to get out and help others. I want to make a difference in someone Else's life. I want to do something that is rewarding.
