Full Family Care Provider -- Personal Care Aid/ Home Health Aid/ Elder Care
In 2003, I began caring for a 7-year-old boy on the Autism Spectrum. His mother had various forms of Cancer and an Auto-Immune Disorder and I devoted much of my time to helping to teacher her son daily living activities and helping around the house with things that she just couldn't do some days. Working with this family showed me just how much I loved helping people and how much it would complete and compliment my life if I could make a career out of it.
In 2007, I started college on the path to becoming a Music Therapist.
In 2008, I began working for two different agencies; one placed me in homes with children with developmental disabilities, the other in homes with elderly patients. I am still currently employed by both of these agencies and over the past 4 years I have gained experience working with children with various disabilities including all forms of
- various levels of Mental Retardation, and
- Down Syndrome,
and adults with various ailments including (but not limited to) various forms of
- Auto-Immune Disorders,
- Diabetes, and
- patients with physical limitations who use either a walker, a wheelchair, or are bed-ridden.
In 2010, I worked side by side with a certified Music Therapist for one semester in an Early Intervention Pre-School for children with developmental disabilities and it was, by far, one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I would love to continue on that path once I have earned my final degree.
In 2011, I earned my Bachelor's Degree and began working on my Master's Degree in Music Therapy. I plan to graduate in May 2013.
I cook, I clean, I babysit, I tutor, and I teach music! I'm organized! I'm energetic and fun for kids, and compassionate and provide stimulating and entertaining conversations for individuals of all ages.
