Seeking care for my grandmother in her 80s. Services needed: companionship, bathing / dressing, meal preparation, medication prompting, transportation, light housekeeping, errands / shopping. Looking for someone with 5+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: CPR/first aid training, support for memory care. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my grandmother: she can be grouchy, outgoing, independent. My grandmother is an 82-year-old sassy, stubborn and entertaining woman. She worked full-time until she was 80 years old and we had to force her to retire. She likes birds, classic movies, and music and singing. She is on the heavier side and while she can walk on her own with a walker she does occasionally need help getting up (and more with motivation to get up and move around). She is no longer able to cook her own food or drive, which bothers her because she used to love doing both. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty, strong. The ideal caregiver is someone who has a good sense of humor but who also has experience working with elderly who are stubborn and reluctant to listen. It would be someone who is able to socialize well but also is OK with doing light housework and assisting with bathing, meal prep, and occasional driving to appointments. My grandmother was very social and since retiring has become significantly less social and less able to be independent. She still wants her independence but we know she needs help. My sister and I are struggling with trying to keep up with things and are truly not able to give her the life she needs so we are hoping with a caregiver's help we can get her more social, more active, and keeping up with her hygiene more regularly so that she can feel like she's living again instead of just "existing". Thank you for your consideration!
