Seeking care for my father in his 80s. Services needed: bathing / dressing, mobility assistance, transportation, light housekeeping, errands / shopping. Looking for someone with 5+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: CPR/first aid training, nursing experience. Male caregiver preferred. A little more about my father: he can be anxious, grouchy, reserved. Dad is 81, suffered stroke in 8/2019 and has paralysis on right side: leg, arm, hand. He weighs 110lbs and needs help getting in and out of bed and toileting every morning, bathing 1-2x per week. He is a retired physician and emeritus professor of medicine. He is very intelligent and kind, but has had difficulty accepting his paralysis and new life in a wheelchair. He's been depressed and grouchy at times. I'm looking for someone who is patient, quiet, firm, strong, bilingual. Our ideal caregiver is a strong male, who has no problem lifting 110lbs in and out of wheelchair to bed, car, sofa, toilet. This person ideally would have CNA and CPR experience and enjoy talking about medicine and health, gardening and sports. Also someone who is handy and can fix things around the house if needed, trustworthy when left alone in the house, on time, respectful, responsible and reliable. My dad lives with my mom, his wife of 53 years. She is 78 and cooks his meals, but can not do any lifting because she had back surgery and cannot bend, twist or lift. She cannot do any of the wheelchair transfers or moving of Dad around in wheelchair.
