Hi! I'm a junior Political Science major, English minor attending Howard University. For all for years of high school I privately tutored two elementary-aged boys with math, reading, and writing. Hi! My name is Clara and I am 20 years old. I have experience working with youth in a school setting. I supported a third grade class for a year. I helped students inside and outside of the classroom through an Americorps program called City Year. I am very familiar with developing lesson plans, tutoring, guidance, skills building, and supporting young people with their socio-emotional needs. I also recognize how much care kids need; I can recognize when they need a break, need to pause to catch their breath, or even go out for some fresh air. I have experience in an academic setting, working with a third grade class. I did this through an Americorps program called City Year. We provided tutoring before school, in classroom support during the day and ran an after school program where we provided homework help and planned fun activities/projects. I have developed lesson plans and rolled them out, I know what it takes to guide someone in their education journey. With this said, I also recognize how stressful a long school day can be for students, especially when learning new material. It is very important to schedule breaks throughout the day to get everyone's spirits back up. If the weather is nice, we can play outside, do arts and crafts, make a snack, or even just get up to stretch.
