It is my belief that early childhood is an important and sacred part of life that should be nurtured and protected, as well as cherished. It is also my belief that children deserve a safe, comfortable, home-like environment where they can be free from overstimulation and over-scheduling, with properly supervised freedom to explore and interact with their surroundings. This is not only developmentally appropriate, but a scientifically-based approach to infant and toddler caring. At Naturally Good Family Childcare, I provide children with a warm, safe environment; plenty of child-led self-discovery; whole, healthy foods; nature- and play-based activities; and as much time outside as possible. When I was a parent of little ones, I practiced Attachment Parenting, Gentle Discipline, used cloth diapers, breastfed, fed on demand, and wore my babies in slings (baby-wear), as well as followed the Waldorf model of learning. I feel this provided my children with a wonderful start to life, therefore I continue to use and honor these ways of interacting and caring for children in my care. I understand the needs of a breastfed baby and know how to properly handle pumped breastmilk, as well as "bottle-nurse" babies to mimic the same position they nurse in while being fed via their bottles. I have a background in psychology, as well as experience as a Research Assistant at John's Hopkins Child Psychiatry Unit, Web Developer at T. Rowe Price, and a published author of women's fiction. Although I can do a plethora of work, I choose to spend my professional time with children and require proper respect for this endeavor. Naturally Good Family Childcare, LLC is my business, which I have put and continue to put a lot of time, finances and dedication into. My house has never failed an inspection through that State of Maryland or Fire Dept., and is clean and smoke free. References and license can be provided at the time of interview.
