Level 2: Public Speaking for Grades 5–8 (***Prerequisite: Completion of any Summer Camp 2026 Week or any of our full 5 week course within the 2025-2026 school year. Our Level 2 course helps students refine and expand their public speaking skills with more structure, deeper content, and a greater focus on delivery, persuasion, and audience engagement. In this 5-session, high-energy course, students will: - Strengthen speech organization and clarity with more complex prompts - Learn how to deliver longer speeches confidently and how to use notecards to prepare effectively instead of memorizing - Master confident delivery techniques including tone, pacing, gestures, and eye contact - Craft stronger openings, memorable closings, and smooth transitions - Explore more advanced speech types—persuasive, informative, motivational, and storytelling - Participate in challenging impromptu speaking activities - Receive in-depth instructor feedback and practical tips for growth - Present in every class, both prepared and off-the-cuff. While still playful and supportive, this course encourages students to dig deeper, speak with intention, and sharpen their presence as young communicators. Whether they’re preparing for school presentations, leadership roles, or competitions, Level 2 equips them with the tools to speak up—and stand out. Whether your student wants to speak up more in class, prep for debate, lead presentations, or simply build everyday confidence, this course is the perfect starting point. In this 5-session, small-group course, students will: - Learn the key elements of strong public speaking and explore different types of speeches - Develop strategies to manage stage fright and speak with clarity - Participate in creative public speaking games and on-the-spot speech challenges - Present to the group during every class - Improve their impromptu speaking and speech structuring abilities - Receive individualized feedback from instructors and peers - Practice both prepared speeches and spontaneous speaking Students will explore multiple speaking formats—persuasive, informative, entertaining, and storytelling—to discover their voice and style. Welcome to Winter Storytelling at Highest Speak! No prerequisites – this is our introductory storytelling and writing class, perfect for beginners! Whether your child is brand new to storytelling or just wants to boost their confidence, this fun, high-energy class is the perfect place to start! Students will improve both their public speaking and creative writing skills as they learn how to craft and perform powerful stories in a supportive, laughter-filled environment. From developing story structure to delivering stories out loud, students will have a blast while building real-world communication skills. And what a perfect time of year to tell magical stories! Winter is full of wonder, imagination, and inspiration—making it the ideal season to bring creative ideas to life through words and performance. Students will work on both prepared stories and impromptu storytelling, building flexibility and confidence as they learn to think on their feet and express themselves clearly and creatively. Each class includes: Open Forum: positive group discussion to warm up and build connection Mini Lesson: focused instruction on a storytelling or performance concept Speaking Games: fast-paced, hilarious activities to boost confidence and creativity Story Assignment: writing or speaking activity that reinforces the day’s lesson Throughout the course, students will write, share, and present their original stories—building confidence in both written expression and spoken delivery. This class will teach the student who is at the beginning of their musical journey how to read notes on a staff, how to understand musical terms in a piece of music, and how to understand and follow various parts in a choral piece. We will explore vocal ranges, matching pitch with a group, sight reading simple tunes, and following a choral part. This class is highly recommended for anyone interested in singing in the upper level choirs, especially for those with no other musical background.

Music Makers get to experience making music together through singing rounds and folk songs, as well as expressing themselves through movement. They will continue developing a foundation in music concepts-such as note reading, dynamics, tempo, steady beats, reading rhythms, etc.-through singing and playing classroom instruments. Students will perform at TCHA’s Choir Concert at the end of the semester (Tuesday, December 1st at 7pm).

Class Description:
This teen art class is designed for teens who are ready to begin exploring their creative potential and how to start developing their own artistic voice. Students will be introduced to, and encouraged to explore, a variety of mediums—including drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, and collage—while receiving personalized guidance from an experienced instructor. Whether they're interested in building their technical skills or discovering thier own unique style, this class offers the freedom to experiment and create at your own pace. New teen students will complete three pre-designed projects with their teacher's guidance to help aid them in learning how to set-up/clean-up supplies and materials, get a feel for what mediums are available, and allow teachers to get a feel for the student's level of skill and art knowledge. What They’ll Learn: Medium Exploration: Gain hands-on experience with a wide range of art forms, including pencil and charcoal drawing, acrylic and watercolor painting, clay sculpture, printmaking, and collage techniques. Project Development: Learn how to conceptualize, plan, and execute your own independent projects. With teacher support, they’ll refine your ideas and bring them to life. Creative Techniques: Develop new skills in various artistic techniques, from layering and texture in mixed media to the technical aspects of ceramics and printmaking. Self-Expression: Find their own voice and style as they experiment with different materials and approaches to art-making. Critique & Feedback: Receive constructive feedback from the instructor and peers in a supportive and open environment to enhance their artistic process and growth. Who This Class Is For: Both new and continuing students. Teens ages 12-17 who are eager to create art more independently but want guidance, structure, and inspiration from a teacher. Feeling like your Broadway Baby is ready for the next step? Then this class is just for you! Broadway Mini-Stars uses the magic of musical theater to help ease the transition from toddler to preschooler by combining the Broadway & Me class you know and love with structured activities designed to encourage independence and help your little one adapt to a group classroom setting. Each week, little Broadway fans and caregivers are introduced to exciting new songs, characters, and stories as Broadway Musicals are brought to life by a team of professional teaching artists. After that, it’s time to dive into a process art activity inspired by the show of the week. Created by a professional performer turned early childhood development specialist, Broadway Mini-Stars is both entertaining and developmentally appropriate!

This fun and energetic combo class introduces young dancers to the fundamentals of both jazz and tap dance in a supportive and engaging environment. Students will build coordination, rhythm, flexibility, balance, and musicality while learning beginner jazz technique and foundational tap skills. Class will include warm-ups, across-the-floor exercises, basic combinations, and age-appropriate choreography designed to keep dancers moving and learning. Through both styles, dancers will develop confidence, classroom discipline, listening skills, and performance quality while exploring movement and self-expression. Jazz encourages strong technique, sharp movement, and stage presence, while tap focuses on rhythm, timing, and sound awareness. This class provides a strong foundation for future dance training and performance opportunities. No prior experience is required, just a willingness to learn and have fun! Required Materials: Black tap shoes Tan jazz shoes Comfortable dancewear (leotard, leggings, dance shorts, or fitted athletic wear) Hair secured away from the face Water bottle Optional: small dance bag for shoes and belongings Recital Costume This registration fee DOES NOT include costumes. Parents can expect to purchase 1 costume for their child for the end of semester recital, selected by the instructor of the class. This costume purchase is required.

What to expect in class: Experience music from all around the world-- music from both past and present, near and far! From The Beatles to Bach! In Music 1, children will delight in the sound of instruments, and “singing” through musical baby talk. They'll enjoy being sung to, experiencing new sounds and the anticipation of surprise! Benefits: Physical: Sensory exploration time is supported while children practice their motor skills, which is crucial for your baby’s overall development. Cognitive: Music-play helps activate parts of the brain responsible for music and speech processing. It creates an early appreciation of music and supports language development. Social: Through music, you can hear and feel emotions. Tunes can be happy, sad, or angry! This supports social development in understanding emotions in a new way. Adults: You get to engage with your little one making emotional connections and strong bonds. Being involved in your child’s play helps both of you feel more connected.

We’ll explore new physical challenges every week through teacher-led activities, with a focus on different ways to use each piece of our equipment. It’s all about opposites: loud and quiet, fast and slow, up and down! Contrasting ‘themes’ help your child learn better ways to communicate. They'll learn how to control body movements and use their body to navigate and problem solve across monkey bars, giant cushions, and through little tunnels. We’ll also practice repetition and routine with regular parachute and bubble activities.

Divino Voce is a mixed choral group for students who desire to continue growing their vocal and musical skills while singing exciting and increasingly challenging choral works at the high school level. Along with two concerts in December (Tuesday, December 1st at 7pm) and May (date TBD), Divino Voce may also perform at the Mall of America during the Christmas season (date TBD). For students not previously accepted into Divino Voce, an audition is required* to participate in this ensemble (registration will be opened to those who are selected to participate). High School Public Speaking Weekend Bootcamp Join us for a fun, high-energy bootcamp designed to help high school students become confident, clear, and engaging speakers! Whether you're prepping for class presentations, student leadership, or college interviews, this bootcamp will give you the tools to speak up and stand out. Over this 3-hour session, students will learn the fundamentals of public speaking, including how to structure their thoughts, write compelling content, and deliver with confidence. We’ll explore 3 key fundamentals of public speaking: content, structure, and performance, while keeping the atmosphere encouraging and collaborative. With a balance of writing and speaking exercises, students will improve their communication on the page, on the stage, and in daily conversations. The workshop includes plenty of individualized instructor coaching and peer feedback, so each student walks away with tangible growth and renewed confidence. This bootcamp is not only about skills—it’s about connection. Students will build friendships, practice social confidence, and have a blast while they learn critical skills for high school and beyond!
