Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, nestled in the foothills of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area will be your home for the afternoon with an option to explore 1-2 separate hiking trails. First, you will be taken for some classic trail hiking with towering canyon walls to one side and Lake Harriet to the other. Then groups will have the option to also enjoy a relaxing scenic walk through the only ash grove in Southern Nevada. After your hikes, enjoy some free time to visit the ranch house before meeting your tour guide in the pasture for nature's happy hour with glass of wine or some local beers to reward yourself for a job well done!

During this tour, we will discuss the many interesting theories of how the wood came to be petrified, as well as the amazing exposed strata of the painted desert known as the Chinle Formation. We will also go over the rich native history in the area, as we walk amongst the ancient lands. There are a couple options for hiking the Badlands in the park. Before we visit the park, we take lunch in town and drive old Route 66 via Holbrook. We then take 4 hrs to explore the PFNP and travel North hitting most of the sites. We see 2000 year old Petroglyphs, 216 million year old Crystal trees, and the painted desert/rainbow hills.

Explore the REAL backcountry of Bitterroot Mountains in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness! Along the way, you will learn about the ecology of the Bitterroot, identifying plants animals as you go. Join a hike in July and August for Huckleberry picking! You'll also learn about the local geology and identify a few rocks and minerals too. Delicious snack options like trail mix, beef jerky (vegan available too!), fig bars, fruit leather, and chocolate cookies included! Your guide will also carry a water filter, first aid, Garmin GPS communicator, and other basic necessities like toiletries for an outing in the backcountry. They are wilderness first responder certified, leave no trace certified, and food handler certified.

We will meet at a beautiful cafe located less than a mile from downtown Denver and after short introductions we will drive to the trailhead in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Once we arrive at the trail we will hike approximately 5k round trip. During the hike you will learn about nature, hiking, and take so many amazing photos you won’t know which one to post first. After the hike we will return to the cafe in Denver. I can provide transportation from the cafe to the hiking trail and back to the cafe upon request. Please let me know if you need transportation or if you have your own. If you do not let us know we will assume you have your own transportation to the trail.
