During the month of November, students will be learning about Van Gogh. Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers are a series of still-life paintings that are among his most famous works. We will using acrylic on canvas to recreate our own versions of these beautiful pieces. Advanced art projects will NOT be completed in one week. These are longer projects and take up to 4 classes to complete. We work with a variety of mediums and take our art to different levels with shading and details.

Fall Semester Session 2 (October-December) This class is recommended for ages 10+ who have a basic knowledge of drawing and anime. Digital Art Supplies REQUIRED. iPad with Apple Pencil preferred. Class is taught using the program Procreate for Apple iPad, which is strongly recommended. Other programs may suffice, but we cannot promise a 1:1 comparison of lessons for any other programs used. Experience in procreate preferred but not required. We will study what makes a cartoon "anime," different methods, techniques, and all the formal elements you need to create your own anime art and characters. In commemoration of the fall harvest, we're learning about the three sisters, a traditional indigenous practice of companion planting. This is a method of growing specific plants in a community rather than rows, because together we grow better! Students will combine ink and markers, focusing on contrast and form to depict their subject. Exploring the different outcomes of texture and value, we’ll discover how this group of plants can also help each other pop on the page.
