From an early age she was immersed in Broadway, jazz, rock, classical, and much more. She was singing from the time she could speak, and began playing piano at 7 years old. While she was involved in her church and school choirs, she also studied piano privately through her early years and into high school. She also studied percussion and after graduating played with the Everald Williams Jazz Trio. As the music director at her church in New Jersey, Stephanie led the band, singing and directed both the adult and children?s choirs. Stephanie has extensive theater experience. She has acted in several shows including Sound of Music, The Music Man (singing top tenor in the barbershop quartet), and Gypsy; and has played in the pit orchestra in performances of Guys and Dolls, God Spell, The Color Purple, VLA Legends, Fiddler on The Roof, Crazy For You, and South Pacific. She also was the music director for performances of God Spell, The Drowsy Chaperone, and directed performances of Hairspray. Formal Education: Stephanie holds a music degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Texas and also holds an early childhood to high school teaching certificate Private Education: Like many vocalists, after extended times of singing Stephanie’s throat would hurt and her voice would often “wear out.” During her time in college she worked extensively with a skilled vocal coach and discovered the solution to these challenges. Her instructor helped her replace improper habits with excellent vocal technique, breath control, and effective self-care. With this training, her voice was strengthened and the pain she experienced was eliminated. Her passion is to pass onto you what she has learned so that you protect your most important vocal asset; your voice! Experience Teaching: Stephanie has the heart of a teacher and has been teaching for most of her life. At 13 years old she taught children’s chime choir and at 19 directed the adult and children’s choirs at her church. For the past 10 years she has taught voice, piano and percussion privately and has worked in the public and private school system. Vocally she has a wide range of genres to share. From Broadway to opera, art song to jazz, classic rock to pop; she loves to sing it all. Stephanie is excited to be in the great state of South Carolina and cannot wait to share her gift with you and/or your children. She currently offers voice and piano instruction. -Reviews- Name: Date: 2016-02-13 15:54:06 Title: Review from Trina M. Body: I love my instructor and her ability to teach at my level.
