I started when I was nine years old, and for the first ten years, I had the same flute teacher, until I started my Bachelor's at the age of 18. My first teacher focused all of her energy on ensuring that I developed my own musical identity. She guided me to create my own ways to study flute in order to make artistic choices and transmit that identity. Having such a teacher is the reason why I continued being a musician, and why I developed an intense passion for teaching. It also deeply influenced the kind of teacher I would become. I have been teaching for many years to students of all ages, from six-year-olds to adults. Besides, having worked as a historical tour guide in Amsterdam and Utrecht has given me excellent training when it comes to speaking in public long periods each tour lasted about three hours and made me develop new systems to transmit content in an entertaining and effective way. I have always found a wonderful source of inspiration in every single student I have had. As a music teacher, I guide a student to discover their own potential, open doors of knowledge, and encourage them to look through those doors and dare to figure out the person they want to become. She is such a friendly person and clearly very passionate about flute and music studies. Her approach to teaching worked so well for me as she was very flexible. Instead of spending endless hours during scales and mouth posture, instead Nuria suggested we start learning a few pieces I could already read sheet music and the technical elements we would touch upon as we went. She has such a great way of expressing her thoughts and ideas and helped me visual things in my head that improved my sound. We found Ms. via advertising on the internet. I can say without reservation that Ms. proved herself to be an outstanding teacher. She was punctual, professional, dedicated, compassionate, and imaginative in her approach to teaching my daughter. Under Ms.'s guidance, my daughter who was at the time made significant progress musically, which was not easy given that she was isolated from playing music with others. Everything from loud rock to mellow bluegrass. I have been concentrating on upright bass, and am very proficient in rockabilly/swing/bluegrass/country styles, and can teach you these styles, and how to slap the bass for that traditional sound. I can teach the Nashville System of notation used in these styles as well. My focus is on teaching to play by ear, and teaching to play with others in anticipation of performing in band settings. I seem to have a knack for getting people to understand the basics. Formal Education: A couple of years as an art major Private Education: I am self taught.
