Unlock your child’s inner engineer! In this hands-on enrichment class, 2nd and 3rd graders use LEGO® bricks to explore the fundamentals of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through our play-based curriculum, students build a brand-new, interactive model each week—ranging from motorized machines to architectural marvels. Every session introduces a fresh STEM theme designed to expand their technical vocabulary and problem-solving skills. We round out every class with creative free-play, allowing students to collaborate and bring their own imaginative designs to life.

Discover the fascinating intersection of acoustics and engineering. In this workshop, students will investigate the physics of sound, learning how vibrations travel to create the music we love. Through the lens of 'Musical STEMology,' we will analyze the mathematical patterns in rhythm and harmony, utilize digital technology to create soundscapes, and apply engineering principles to design custom instruments. In “What’s in our air?” students will build and use devices to understand the composition of the air we breathe. In this year-long experience, participants will develop practical engineering, computer programming, and teamwork skills while gaining improved understanding of our environment and how it is changing. We aim to build a low-cost air quality monitor, communicate with it via custom Python computer code, and use it to monitor the air near Pittsburgh. We also aim to plan and perform a weather balloon launch, and examine the data the balloon collects. We will compare our measurements of today’s air with historical extreme pollution in the Pittsburgh region, and with fully pristine natural conditions. A stipend will be awarded to participants at the conclusion of the program!

Curiosity Club (grades TK-2) and Curiosity Creators (grades 3-5) are STEMful after school STEAM programs. Both programs engage student in science, technology, engineering, art and math concepts. We provide pick up at near by schools, light snack and homework support. If your child is from TECA, Dolores Huerta and Alvarado, Flynn Or MEC STEMful staff will do pick at the school. If your child does not attend one of these schools, then caregiver will need to drop-off.
