Born in Reading, PA, I received my first guitar instruction and general music lessons from my father who was a career musician for much of my childhood years. During my late 20's and 30's I had the pleasure of studying in Portland, OR with the great jazz drummer Alan Jones as well as studying theory and composition at Mt. Hood Community College with Suzy Jones, Dave Barduhn, Marshal Tuttle and many other accomplished jazz musicians such as Stan Bock, Jeff Hamilton, and Anat Choen. Every musician learns differently and has a unique perception of rhythm, melody and harmony. Each musician requires different teaching methods and a specific practice regimen to develop and maintain motivation. A student should hear and see progress after each lesson. I've instructed students from age 4 to 84 in various styles ranging from hard rock like "The Melvins" to Country style playing like "Chet Atkins" to the solo technique and chord melody of "Wes Montgomery" and "Barney Kessel". After completing a robust coursework that included music theory, arranging, composition, and sound engineering classes, Rick received his Bachelor's of Music in Commercial Music in 2007. Additionally, he often works as a live and/or session drummer for several artists here in New York City. In 2009, Rick started Man From Nowhere Productions, a small music audio production company based out of Astoria, Queens. I have been a student of music for 7 years. My musical influences include Pop Rock, Orchestral and I also enjoy Salsa because of prominent use of 4/5-Part Spread-Voicings. My teaching style can best be described as Energetic based on the fact that Sports and Music compliment each other, and these are two of the best activities one can do. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe Music energizes you, and allows you to do a particular Sport longer and better e.g. you will have a better Basketball Training-session if you do it while listening to Energizing-Music. In my lessons, you can expect to learn Electric-Guitar-Techniques, Music-Theory, Intervalls, Proper Guitar-Tone, Songwriting-Techniques. Kirk's Music Lessons (Guitar)
by Taylor Robinson Music
Frisco, TX
Years of Experience: 25 Location Options: In Studio Genres: Rock, Blues, Country Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Bass Guitar Lessons Overview: Hello – the following is an overview of my decades of musical experience and (hopefully) qualifications to instruct others that would like to learn from my experience. I am the son of a professional musician/ music educator. I have been around music my entire life and have been participating, in one form or another, as far back as I can remember. I took piano lessons from age 6-10. Subsequently, I joined the school orchestra, taking up the string bass. Since I was the only bassist in the school, I immediately began playing with the more advanced orchestra students. I played in the high school orchestra for two years even though my attention and allegiance was transferring from string bass to bass guitar. As soon as I began playing bass guitar, I started learning my favorite rock and pop songs and acquiring and developing my own tastes and affinities. I jammed with anybody else I could find that played anything ( primarily guitarists and drummers, of course) and also began to accompany the teen choir at our church. I continued playing string bass through 10th grade as well and participated in all school orchestra functions along with many church and community functions. I was given the opportunity to join the local symphony for a couple of performances (once on string bass and once on bass guitar, for a “pops” concert). I played bass guitar one year in the school jazz band. I played in a couple of high school bands, doing the usual sock hops, “battle of the bands”, and school dances, etc. I have also played a couple of school musicals on a “for hire” basis. After high school I joined a local country rock band and played regularly with them for a couple of years – the usual array of wedding receptions, local festivals, bars, private parties, etc. After that band was disbanded by the leader, I moved to South Carolina to play in a Top 40 “road band” and played various clubs and hotel lounges throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. Private Education: completed audio engineering course at Dallas Sound Lab -Reviews- Name: Anonymous Date: 2015-05-29 21:50:23 Title: Outstanding instructor Body: Kirk has a great understanding of music, and he also has the ability to teach so that you can master it as well. You'll be playing your favorite songs quickly, but you'll also be learning how and why the music works. You'll be empowered to tackle new music on your own, and also to have a great teacher to keep you sharp with technique and new ideas!

Then I continued until the age of 18, when keyboards and synthesizers started to become more popular, and I saw this as a way of being more in demand in the future and switched to studying piano and organ with a private teacher. That was short lived because I could remember the melodies and found it hard to read the page. First guitar lesson for my 11y.o. Who loved it! Mike was encouraging, helpful fun. He is clearly passionate about music and shared this by drawing my daughter in. She felt comfortable trying new things making mistakes. Mike was able to read her body language and provide frequent breaks. He also changed things up implementing many different approaches. He maintained a positive upbeat message provided several options for homework/practicing. Looking forward to the next lesson. Name: Jack Kelley Date: 2021-02-11 09:04:42 Title: Perfect fit Body: First off, Mike is genuinely a pleasant guy and has a passion for teaching music. Lesson started off with him getting a feel for the music I like ,my goals and my experience. Came up with the perfect lesson to get me started working on hand dexterity coordination and keeping a rhythm. Kept it from becoming a chore by teaching some general knowledge about the Bass, putting notes together and music in general. Nothing overwhelming ,just enough. Come back to the exercise and I'm doing a bit better and can start to hear myself actually making music. Great first lesson, I'm more optimistic about being able to learn to play. Just booked more lessons Name: Sherry Date: 2023-01-12 10:09:19 Title: Excellent Job Body: Mike did an excellent job instructing my 11 y/o son. He was very patient and made it fun.

My name is Alex . I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. I moved to Texas in 2004. I have been playing guitar now for almost 9 years. I have been able to work with many different types people in various music genre. I started on acoustic guitar for the first 3 or 4 years or so of my guitar experience. And several years ago started playing more electric guitar. I have had over 4 years of music lessons by professional musicians and guitar players. Shortly after I started playing electric guitar and a lot of my friends started asking me how to play. Long story short, over time I grew a passion for teaching people music and how to play guitar. Music is what I love and I devote my life to be very good at it and learning to teach people in ways that impact them the most. Formal Education: High school GED for Trinity Christian School a couple basic college courses. Working towards a degree in Audio Engineering. Private Education: David Elam: guitar teacher over at CFNI. He has teaching there for many years and have been teaching people about guitar for almost 12 years. I received 2 years of lessons from him. Most of what I learned from him was fundamentals of guitar and music theory, rhythm, and some song writing skills. Krisz Simonfalvi: Solo artist, amazing guitar player and producer. Teaches guitar for a living for more than 15 years. I have received lessons from Krisz shortly after having 2 years with David Elam. What I learned with Krisz was taking everything I Knew to the next level. I learned from him intermediate to college level theory and more advanced song writing skills. Performing Experience: The majority of my performing experience has been in a church. The church I play at though is a very large so I have had the opportunity to work in a very professional environment. I have been playing there 3 or 4 times a week for over 4 years. We play a very large genre of music there. Experience Teaching: I started teaching people when I was in high school. when I started giving lessons to make money I went to David and Krisz to receive instruction on how to become a great teacher. I mainly teach from my home and church. I have taught one on one and groups as well. I am comfortable doing either one. I have taught lessons over skype and I have had great success doing that. I feel confident to say that I can teach anyone to play the guitar but the age I most often teach is young kids and adults.
