Private Education: Constantly learning everything I can about the Piano and Strings, my initial music education consists of private Piano lessons (with Mrs. Dalia Alcala-Galiano in New Jersey for many years) and Violin lessons (with Mrs. Dorothea Baxter from the Imperial Symphony Orchestra in Lakeland, Florida) as well. I then engaged in intensive Viola and Cello instruction autonomously which was enhanced greatly by my background in the Piano and Violin. Performing Experience: I exercise my gifts of music on a daily/weekly basis at the Ministry Center Jesus Church (our ministry outreach to the community) as well as other churches in the Lakeland Area. Experience Teaching: I have been teaching Piano in my home studio at beginning to intermediate levels for 17 years. Our eldest son Alvaro went on to be accepted at Harrison School of the Arts here in Lakeland in the Piano Department (and has been a Taylor Robinson Instructor). Thankfully, I have been sought out as an educator by parents in the community because of my unique gifting to teach children of all abilities, but especially those with special needs like autism and other related disabilities. Learning the Piano works as an advanced type of occupational therapy. Because each student learns differently, I use many different teaching strategies to work with different types of learners. My teaching is best suited for beginners to early-intermediate learners, but as time progresses, we can also work towards being an accompanist, which can command a good salary. In addition, I have been teaching the Violin since 2008, the Viola since 2010, and the Cello since 2012. I use my own adaptations of different curriculae and sheet music to create a comprehensive system of learning that moves sequentially for quick progress for the student. -Education- Degree: n/a -Awards- Name:n/a -Reviews- Name: Mrs. Rodríguez Date: 2018-10-12 17:26:10 Title: Excellent Teacher Body: Mrs. Sharon is an excellent teacher. She is encouraging and goes the extra mile to keep us challenged. Even when we are progressing at a difference pace, she will ensure we each have appropriate songs to practice during the week to keep us on track. She is organized and has a great teaching method and is always willing to answer our questions.
