I prefer to provide quality care for a few, rather than providing quantity care for many. Hands-on, play-based, experiential learning has been shown to best meet the developmental needs of children under age 7. We are always learning, but I do not push hardcore academics before first grade. My educational philosophy is more along the lines of Waldorf/Montessori/Charlotte Mason. I believe in giving kids the tools to learn and guiding them towards discovery. We love doing field trips to the zoo, museums, the library, parks and more. This is one reason for accepting only a few kids for care. I can take them out to explore the world as well as working on projects in my home. My maximum is 4 children in addition to my own, but I would prefer no more than 2 daycare kids at a time. We also love reading, pretend play, science projects, nature study, educational songs and dancing, kitchen fun, and crafts. I have over 30 years of child care experience. Safety is my first priority. I use gentle discipline. Babies are for holding as much as possible, I do not use cry it out methods (all babies cry some, I just prefer to comfort them). My fees are in line with what large local daycare centers charge, but your child will receive much more personalized care. Healthy snacks provided. Field trip expenses are generally included in daily/hourly fee. Clean driving record. I always exceed current safety regulations for car seat use. Non-smoking home.
