(They/Them) I'm a passionate and experienced early childhood educator. My experience is mostly with 0-5-year-olds. This past school year I homeschooled 6 kids, K-2. I was also a lead preschool teacher in Reggio & RIE inspired preschools for several years, these philosophies are deeply rooted in respecting children as competent and capable people. I'm passionate about anti-bias education and weaving social justice into curricula, and have experience training educators in ABE. I'm vaccinated! I moved here from MI 3 years ago with my dog, I'm an animal lover, I have my own vehicle, am reliable and responsible, and have references and a resume upon request. I have experience creating and implementing curriculum based on emergent themes, nature, and anti-bias topics. I'd prefer to work with multiple children and am open to a nanny share or homeschooling. Although I'll be returning to PSU in the fall to continue my BSW, I'm looking for a long term position starting in July or August.

We hired Lu for a short term nanny role for our 7 month old baby and we can't say enough amazing things about Lu. She was extremely professional and nurturing. Hands down the best nanny we have ever worked with. We both from home and it was important to have someone who would blend well with our work flow - Lu was very respectful of our needs and did an incredible job of managing the household while we were working. Our son developed a special bond with Lu I'm just the short time that they were together. We hope our paths will cross again because she truly is amazing.

College Graduate Looking For Childcare Position

Responds within a few days
I'm a Reed College graduate (Art History '15) wondering what I want to do with my life (grad school? historic preservation? animal behaviorist?) and, in the mean time, enjoying feeling like a kid again. I'm looking forward to fun-filled days of exploring, adventuring, creating, discovering, learning, and laughing! I have been sitting regularly for 14 years, first in Chicago, and now in Portland for the past 9 years. I have experience with children of all ages, including twin toddlers, babies as young as 5 months, and siblings ages 3-13. I am fluent in Spanish. I enjoy exploring the great outdoors, cooking and baking, reading, arts and crafts, cuddling with pets, board games, puzzles, building towers, picnics, plants, music, museums, and much more. I am taking COVID extremely seriously and expect any family I work with to do the same. I am happy to share more information about myself and my references upon request, so please ask!

Georgia has been with our family for over 2 years! I would hire her again in a heartbeat. She first came to work for our family when my daughter was 2 y.o. When my daughter went to preschool, Georgia helped care for my son in the afternoons picking him from kindergarten and helping transport him to afternoon activities. In the spring of 2020, Georgia kept both of our kids safe and active. Her roll changed and she took on proctored online learning, educational home projects, and keeping our kids active and outside. Georgia is creative and really skilled with art projects. She always makes healthy food and involves the kids in cooking. She loves reading and shared her love of books with my children. Georgia is trustworthy, dependable, and punctual. She is patient with my children but also skilled with boundary setting. She is a good direct communicator. Above all, I am eternally grateful that we were lucky enough to have found such a skilled, kind, smart, empathetic caregiver!

Respectful, Creative Caregiver

Hi there, I'm looking for part-time and occasional work in the SE Portland area. I have five years experience as a Montessori outdoor educator in addition to many other formal and informal experiences as a caregiver and educator. I'm currently a middle school science student teacher completing my MS in Education and Portland State University. I'm confident in my ability to provide respectful and engaging care that promotes independence and curiosity. I'm able to provide inquiry-based environmental education experiences in addition to helping with school work. I have a range of artistic ability and enjoy sharing that with those I care for utilizing found objects and everyday materials.

We really cannot say enough good things about Kristen. She was a teacher in our children's' Montessori preschool and helped us out with home care during the pandemic. First, she is incredibly professional and dependable with excellent communication skills. What I love the most about her time with our kids is that they are always engrossed in creative nature-based activities - finding bugs, playing outside, pressing flowers, reading books, making little books. Our two girls (aged 5 and 3 yo) love when Kristen comes to visit, and so do mom and dad, who know they will have an enriching and fun time. We would hire her full-time if ours and hers needs allowed. Can't recommend enough!

I've taken care of kids aged 14 months to 11 years for the past 5 years. Currently I work at a mental health facility and am planning to transition back to nannying when I start graduate school in the fall. In addition to working with kids with behavioral challenges, my experience includes taking care of second language learners, care for families with up to 3 children, and overnight care. I have also coached a group of kids at a music camp, ages 11-14. I enjoy building a relationship with every family I work for and genuinely enjoy spending time with and getting to know every child!

We had the pleasure of having Hadas as our care giver for 2+ years, as she cared for our 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 year old daughters. Hadas built a strong connection with both kids and they love her dearly. She engaged our kids with creative activities, provided their daily meals, and ensured their safety and well being throughout the day. She is skilled with all aged children, from infant, toddler and beyond. She stays cool under pressure and handles kid meltdowns like a pro. Hadas has the ability to turn a stressful situation around and handles tough scenarios with patience, care, and a positive attitude. We still depend on Hadas for babysitting from time to time, which is a huge treat for our family. Any family would be lucky to have Hadas as their primary child caregiver and I'm happy to provide any additional detail needed.
