Mrs. Montyne provides childcare services for two of my children and in a few short months she will be caring for my third child. Both of my kids, now ages four and two, began going to Mrs. Montyne's childcare since they were six months of age which will soon be the same for my third child. Mrs. Montyne provides a loving and well-structured home for the children. She is patient, kind, and always willing to help my children with anything they are struggling with at any given moment (potty training, milestones, colors, ABC's, writing, pronunciation, etc..). My children are extremely comfortable with her and she has become an important grandmother-like figure in their lives. I have no worries or concerns when I drop my children off at her home as I know they are in good hands. Mrs. Montyne also implements an open communication policy and provides daily updates to parents on their child's accomplishments and/or struggles upon pick up. Mrs. Montyne preschool curriculum is well thought out and is helping my son improve and prepare for kindergarten. My son enjoys the activities and work that he does and loves to show my husband and I. Mrs. Montyne as my childcare provider and exceeds all expectations. Our family loves her!

I have been familiar with Lorette and her childcare business in it's entirety. I was Lorette's employee for approximately 6 years. As such, I was able to observe her devoted care and concern for the children. I have watched her growth as a woman and care provider through hard times and good. She has always kept the welfare, safety, and health of the children in her care in the forefront of all that she did and does. Cleanliness and the avoidance of anything that might undermine the children's health has always been paramount. We all know that the symptoms of Covid-19 can present in many ways. It is also known that those same symptoms can be evidence of other possible illnesses. Lorette has always kept a very close watch for any child that might show symptoms of a contagious illness. She is also aware that there are many "symptoms of illness" in young children that are not indications of illness and are simply the result of normal childhood processes. (such as a runny nose and fever - is it the beginning of a cold or sign of teething? Is it contagious or not?) Making these types of decisions is not easy and it is unrealistic to expect a care provider to send home every child that presents with possible contagious symptoms or close her business every time she herself might be experiencing symptoms related to health issues - such as allergies - which she has suffered with her entire life. How long will an employer tolerate an employee that "calls in sick" every time the employee has a family member show symptoms of illness? Covid-19 has a mortality rate of less that 1% in the United States and children under the age of 12 have been shown to have the greatest resistance to Covid-19. A child in Lorette's care is much more likely to have a fever and runny nose as a result of teething rather than Covid-19. Is it reasonable to expect every child to be sent home because of a fever and runny nose? As for Lorette's own heath and this most recent event, her symptoms began as her allergy symptoms often begin. When her fever appeared, she went to the doctor. She was diagnosed with a kidney infection and was prescribed medication that is known to have side effects of nausea and vomiting. She was also prescribed medication to counteract those symptoms. When her symptoms did not improve and she became concerned about becoming dehydrated, she went to the hospital ER. There she was diagnosed with Covid (and we all know how reliable THOSE numbers are) and told that she was no longer contagious because she had had the symptoms for 10 days and was sent home. She immediately informed all parents of the new diagnosis and remained closed for another 2 days, recuperating. She trusted the doctors and their experience and knowledge. Lorette continues to be extra diligent and watchful and does her very best to make decisions that keep the health, welfare, and safety of the children in her care very front of her focus. She is completely open with all her parents and keeps everyone fully informed of any issue that may affect a child in her care.
