SolBe is an early learning center that re-imagines traditional notions of child care and nursery school. Our name defines our purpose: "sol" from the Spanish word meaning sun and the English word "be", combining into a name meaning "to be full of light". Learning is not the filling of a cup, but the lighting of a fire.

We aim to create the highest quality early learning experiences through a seed-to-table nutrition program, thoughtfully designed facilities, especially-trained-for-this-work educators, and a school culture influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach integrated with Spanish immersion.

Your wellness and the wellness of your child shouldn't be a question of either/or. SolBe is an early learning center committed to yes/and. Our dynamic program continually adapts and improves as we nurture healthy, engaged lives for children and adults.

The SolBe educational philosophy is heavily influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach; we believe children to be competent and capable citizens of our society. As such, we are careful to craft experiences and learning opportunities based on what we observe about children. We constantly look for opportunities to scaffold children s learning, which encourages them to be active participants in their learning experiences. This means allowing children the freedom to play and explore on their own accord, and the educator taking a role as a guide instead of the traditional gatekeeper of knowledge.

Our educational philosophy also encompasses best practices related to language immersion education. We are a Spanish language immersion program, which means that our day-to-day activities happen in Spanish. We value bilingual learning- and the cognitive and social emotional benefits which bilingualism promotes.

Attention has been paid to the interactions between the physical learning environment and children, as well as how the environment impacts the interactions between educators and children. Our spaces have been intentionally designed to shift to the changing needs and emotions of the humans who use them. We re inspired by the Montessori method and its attention to beautiful home-like environments, which is reflected in our design.

Our seed-to-table nutrition program is another element of our educational philosophy. Research shows that when children are active participants in the growing and preparation of their food, they are more likely to try, and enjoy, new foods. Children participate in a food preparation task daily.

Panda Bilingual Daycare is a bilingual Mandarin- English early educational childcare center combining the Montessori educational philosophy with Chinese and American language and culture. Our center's mission is to offer the highest quality care and education for children from three months to kindergarten entry.

The Panda Bilingual Daycare curriculum is inspired by many of the tenets of Maria Montessori's educational theory and practice, along with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and our own unique features. The core of the Montessori curriculum is divided into four main areas: sensory, practical life, language, and mathematics. Many of the materials and methods we use are derived from her work. The children will also explore cultural, scientific and historical subjects such as geography, geology, zoology and botany at levels appropriate to their development.

At Panda Bilingual Daycare, we encourage children to learn Chinese not only through art and music and literature, but also through listening and reading the Chinese children's classics such as The Analects, Tang and Song Poetry, which have been a part of children's education for thousands of years. These works of literature and philosophy and history remain relevant in our current society. The authoritative research tells us that exposure to literature from the earliest ages has significant and measurable results on brain development. Children thrive on being read to and interacting with books from the time they are born.

The outdoor classroom is an important part of our curriculum. Our outdoor classroom is surely a playground, in which the children can run and jump and play together. But it is also a natural extension of their classrooms, in which the children will have the daily experience of learning surrounded by a bit of nature. They can spend time noticing the animal and plant life, finding a bird's nest, watching the life cycle of a butterfly, growing and caring for plants, as well as playing in the sand, balancing on tree stumps, lounging in the child sized hammocks. Children can paint and draw what they see on the outdoor easels and experiment with sound and music on the thunder drum and musical fence.

Listen to the child with respect and humility; observe the child's rhythm, respect of the environment, the self, and all of us who make up mankind are the fundamental principles of our school.

The Bilingual Montessori School of Boston offers full-time, part-time, and after school program. During such time, the program includes series of activities that match the children's needs, encourage them to be independent, and help them develop physically, and emotionally. Our program is also designed to encourage the children explore, solve problems, and make them aware of the diversity of the world beyond their home.

Three basic tenets of our school:

Respect Yourself; Respect Others, Respect Your Environment

Our Music curriculum is designed around a composition of international songs, including classical, folk and children's songs. Musical concepts incorporated include: rhythm, pitch, form, dynamics, notation and harmony. The ear training involves singing and rhythmic training directly related to the pieces being taught.

Classes include: Developing piano techniques, strengthening dexterity and reinforcing ear training. Children are encouraged to freely explore the keyboard and are guided into improvising, or to creating a composition. Sometimes they simply "play" and sometimes they choose to work on certain pieces in their repertoire. The children regularly perform for one another, and at least once a year, are provided the opportunity to perform at larger concerts for parents and friends.

Dress Code

The purpose of a dress code is to minimize the influence of superficial matters in a Montessori community that places high value on the healthy development of mind, body, and spirit. A standard of appearance emphasizes the seriousness of our Montessori mission.
