The Middle School Art class at The Atelier School of Art is a one-hour session for ages 11-13, designed to help students refine their artistic skills while exploring different mediums and techniques. What They’ll Learn: Medium Exploration: Gain hands-on experience with a wide range of art forms, including pencil and charcoal drawing, acrylic and watercolor painting, clay sculpture, printmaking, and collage techniques. Project Development: Learn how to conceptualize, plan, and execute your own independent projects. With teacher support, they’ll refine your ideas and bring them to life. Classes are taught by a team of professional teaching artists with years of experience in the classroom and on professional stages and feature a customized curriculum designed to challenge and showcase the strengths of each young performer while helping prepare them to participate in our mainstage musical this Spring. Each week, your child will participate in acting games, choreography rehearsal, and vocal coachings as they learn scenes and songs from Broadway Musicals that they will perform onstage for family and friends at the end of the semester. Whether your child is destined for the lights of Broadway or simply loves to perform with their friends, this class will spark their creativity and give them the confidence to shine both onstage and off! *While participation in our Fall Semester is not required to enroll in our Spring Production classes, it is strongly encouraged. *Our Fall Finale will take place on a weeknight the week of December 14. Gloria Voce is a mixed choral group for students to grow together in learning to read music, sing harmonies, and apply vocal techniques of breath, blend, pitch, and resonance at the junior high level. In this season, students will find their voices are changing and we will adapt to their new “instrument” as that occurs. Along with two concerts in December (Tuesday, December 1st at 7pm) and May (date TBD), Gloria Voce may also perform at the Mall of America during the Christmas season (date TBD). No audition required. NOTE: due to the time required to order music, a late fee of $25 for all who register less than two weeks before classes begin.

Cantabile Choir members focus on learning to sing as an ensemble as we prepare music, including songs in foreign languages, to be performed at TCHA’s Choir Concert at the end of the semester (Tuesday, December 1st at 7pm). Cantabile may also perform at the Mall of America during the Christmas season (date TBD). They will sing music from different genres, singing unison, 2-part, and 3-part music. Cantabile is appropriate for boys with unchanged voices.

This is a Level 1 class — ideal for beginners in Grades 5–8! No prior experience necessary. Students MUST be in Grades 5-8 (No exceptions.) From the first spark of an idea to final performance, participants will work together to create original stories, design and build puppets, and develop engaging characters. Auditions at Stages are designed to be a low stress, fun experience. Middle School Musical students get the chance to do a comprehensive audition process complete with 32 bar cut vocal audition, dance call, cold reads, and callbacks. Casting will be done traditionally with 1-2 actors playing each role. EVERY CHILD WILL BE GIVEN A ROLE IN THE SHOW. We will work together with children to make sure they have a role. that they are excited to perform! --Weeks 3-11 (Sep 21 - Nov 21): Putting It Together-- During Weeks 3-9, the cast will participate in weekly rehearsals. During these classes, we will focus on character development, blocking the show, learning choreography and music. --Weeks 12-14 (Nov 30 - Dec 19): Prepping for Opening Night-- During Weeks 12-14, the cast will begin running doing “Run Thrus” where they perform the show from start to finish. We’ll also start adding in transitions so performers know when and how to enter/exit the stage, when to get microphones, make a costume change, or pick up a prop from the prop table. These classes are VERY important and we ask that you do your best to ensure your child is at every class unless they are ill. *There will be no class on November 25 and 28* WINTER BREAK: December 21 - January 2 -Additional rehearsals may be added the early in the week of December 21 but these will be optional to accommodate families who are traveling.
