Summer camp is the bees knees. Join us for half day camp, full day, or drop-in for a single half-day or full day session. Ages 3-14.

Join us for this 5-day camp in our Rebel Ceramics studio. Campers will be doing a combination of hand-building and pottery wheel projects, learning all about the clay body itself, the full ceramic process, different techniques, and glazing. Get those hands dirty,and do a deep dive into problem-solving skills. Ceramics camps for our 8-11 year olds will run every week of our 10 weeks of summer camp, boasting different projects each week for those who may want to join us for multiple weeks of ceramic fun! Please note that due to the nature of ceramics and the firing process, campers artworks will not be ready to take home on the last day, but will need to be picked up at a later date. We will reach out to notify parents when finished pieces are ready for pick up.

Here the studio art experience is brought to you! In Ceramics, we work with clay sculpting and students form their artwork by hand. Basic techniques are taught and demonstrations are given. The students paint their Ceramic art with non-toxic colors that are then transported to a kiln, bisque, and glaze fired with a clear food-safe finish. The beautiful and durable glazed ceramics are fun and students will learn the fundamentals of sculpture & hand-building techniques. Use of tools will be shown to create a vase or sculpture, planning to try a more extended project that is less rushed. Other mediums will be introduced, such as wood. Using pre-cut wood, popsicle sticks and some paint we will explore forming objects of art and function. Also wire sculpting to form people, animals, and contemporary art will be part of the sculpting. Teaching student's ways to bend colored pipe cleaner, and firmer wire into shapes and designs with a base. Artwork comes back to the classroom, as it's ready throughout the program. All artwork will be received by the last class. Usually, we finish with a self-hardening clay project they take home on the last day. A Little of Everything Week is exactly that! Campers get to explore a bit of everything—from slime and ceramics to canvas art, clay projects, and so much more. Ojai has a 100-year history of ceramics. Our studio, located a mile from the city center, is surrounded by nature, in the midst of a fruit orchard. We are a working studio for many of the great artists in the Ojai Valley. Visitors may watch potters work, and may "try their hand" at a range of techniques. After making their pottery, they may may pay a small fee for our staff to trim, glaze and high-fire the work. This "finishing" work takes about 3 weeks. Visitors may also come back to glaze their OWN work. There is no charge for this. AND we will even ship your pieces anywhere in the country...
