This Middle School Class is perfect for an after school Art Experience. We will complete roughly 1 project each day- :) Includes all sitting fees, materials and glaze/ studio fees. Yes- You can bring a snack to class & eat before we begin.

At the Studio we're lucky to have ceramic artists eager to share their craft with your kids. This week-long camp will focus on a mixture of hand building and wheel throwing. We will create a variety of bowls, plates, cups, vases, and more while experimenting with surface design and glazes.

During this week campers get to enjoy a different ceramic and slime daily. ​ We know going home we so many slimes and ceramics can be overwhelming - so we have you covered. We will also be mixing in some watercolor and acrylic projects throughout the week. From fluffy slime to glow in the dark and snow slime - we will keep the campers day filled with exciting activities!

Rebel Art Summer Camps are full of exploration, creative excitement, and just plain fun! Much like our teen school year classes, we will offer the flexibility of having planned projects for those who don't necessarily have a clear idea of what to create, as well as more of an open studio for those who are ready to dive into all those projects in their heads (with the guidance of our teachers). We offer everything from drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, printmaking to sculpture. Please note that due to time constraints, we do not offer ceramics in this program during summer camps (please check out our Rebel Ceramics program if interested in working with ceramics). We break up the week by hosting camp in different locations. Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays are hosted at the studio at 1444 South Main st., and Tuesdays/Thursdays we meet at local parks. This unique opportunity is only offered during summer camps and is incredibly special as it allows campers to experience working in plein air (from life outside) as well as in the studio for a complete art experience. Please note that we keep a close watch on the weather and air quality and will relocate to the studio if it will be too hot or poor air.

Summer camp is the bees knees. Join us for half day camp, full day, or drop-in for a single half-day or full day session. Ages 3-14.

Here the studio art experience is brought to you! In Ceramics, we work with clay sculpting and students form their artwork by hand. Basic techniques are taught and demonstrations are given. The students paint their Ceramic art with non-toxic colors that are then transported to a kiln, bisque, and glaze fired with a clear food-safe finish. The beautiful and durable glazed ceramics are fun and students will learn the fundamentals of sculpture & hand-building techniques. Use of tools will be shown to create a vase or sculpture, planning to try a more extended project that is less rushed. Other mediums will be introduced, such as wood. Using pre-cut wood, popsicle sticks and some paint we will explore forming objects of art and function. Also wire sculpting to form people, animals, and contemporary art will be part of the sculpting. Teaching student's ways to bend colored pipe cleaner, and firmer wire into shapes and designs with a base. Artwork comes back to the classroom, as it's ready throughout the program. All artwork will be received by the last class. Usually, we finish with a self-hardening clay project they take home on the last day. Ojai has a 100-year history of ceramics. Our studio, located a mile from the city center, is surrounded by nature, in the midst of a fruit orchard. We are a working studio for many of the great artists in the Ojai Valley. Visitors may watch potters work, and may "try their hand" at a range of techniques. After making their pottery, they may may pay a small fee for our staff to trim, glaze and high-fire the work. This "finishing" work takes about 3 weeks. Visitors may also come back to glaze their OWN work. There is no charge for this. AND we will even ship your pieces anywhere in the country...
