All children have different learning styles and we explore a variety of ways to help them become successful in their leaning. Learning through independent and guided play as well as discovery and scaffolding (building and expanding on ideas) are a few ways we approach learning. We explore the natural environment through watching the changes in our garden and fruit trees. We use daily activities and encounters to understand science and math. We look at natural and created experiences to explore the variety of art mediums. Everyday interactions promote positive socialization situations. All of these experiences allow children to be successful. What is NeighborSchools? NeighborSchools helps experienced caregivers launch and operate licensed home daycares in Massachusetts. With better ratios and experienced caretakers, home daycare allows for more individualized attention for infants and toddlers. As a parent, you get a trusted partner for the long-term care of your child, right in your neighborhood, at a price you can afford.

I ve dedicated my life to the education of children and received a degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in early education from Johnston State College in 1987. I ve been Massachusetts State certified since 1991, and I ve worked for several different preschools throughout my career and even received my Montessori Teaching Degree in 2006. In September 2007, I opened Forestdale Friends Preschool, a Massachusetts licensed and insured school, which I run out of my house. This opportunity has allowed me to continue my love for working with and educating children, and to stay home with my children as well. I wanted a dedicated room for the school, so I hired a contractor to renovate our garage into a spacious, beautiful school room with cathedral ceiling, over-sized skylights, and lots of sunshine. During the school year, I run a theme-based academic program in which we participate in circle, art, outside time, field trips, and more. The children learn numbers, letters, mathematics, language and various other cultural subjects. My summer program is more relaxed and fun with a lot more field trips.

I strive to bring the highest quality of nurturing care to my program and plan to do so for many years to come. My mother is a certified assistant for the program, so the children are well watched over and their needs are always met. Our levels of care are split between the younger and older children. For infants, we make sure they are clean and in a whole new outfit when the parents come to pick up for the day. The goal is that they're ready for bed by pick up time, so that family time at the end of the day can be calm and enjoyed fully. We also have parents bring in everything the child needs for the week on Monday to reduce stress. No more worrying every single morning what needs to be brought, because it's already here! For the older children, we have more interactive activities to ensure that they're learning a wide variety of topics while developing their sensory, fine and gross motor, social and emotional skills and more. We have plants the children water, an aquarium where the children feed fish and observe their swimming, and we also bake. I let the children be free with artwork to allow them to explore fully their creative expression. Another important element during our day-to-day is dance time. The children look forward to dancing and it's a great way to exercise the kids. I am also a part of a food program, so I provide free meals for breakfast, lunch, and 2 snacks. I feel it is my responsibility to be attentive to the needs of parents as well as the children. The program hours are from 7am to 5pm and we also have after-hours available if necessary from 5pm to 7pm. We are also open on Saturdays if there is need. As I mentioned before, I try to make it as easy as possible for parents for pick up and drop off. I was a working parent too and understand the difficulties that can come from arranging child care. In addition, each child has a communication folder and each day the parents receive a daily report sheet so they are in the loop about exactly how their child's day went! What is NeighborSchools? NeighborSchools helps experienced caregivers launch and operate licensed home daycares in Massachusetts. With better ratios and experienced caretakers, home daycare allows for more individualized attention for infants and toddlers.
