The Children s Montessori School of Georgetown is a member of the American Montessori Society. In addition to their formal education, our lead teachers either hold Montessori Teaching Credentials or are actively working toward obtaining them. In our school, children s education is tailored specifically to the needs, rhythms, and talents of each child. Multi-age classrooms are utilized with two programs grouped by age, with children working together from eighteen to thirty-six months and from two and a half years to six years. The multi-age classrooms allow the younger students to learn from older peer role models while giving older students the opportunity to build self-confidence and self-esteem as they become leaders in the classroom. The curriculum and materials are adapted to suit everyone from the youngest members of our community to the oldest. CMS has a Toddler classroom, a Primary classroom, and an outdoor learning space, each of which is carefully prepared to optimize the educational experience. In our Toddler and Primary classrooms students spend the day working with Montessori materials and, of course, having time for lunch, outdoor recess, and rest when necessary. After 3 pm, students may take part in special enrichment classes such as Spanish, Yoga, or Art. The school is set on the beautiful campus of Cardome, which was historically a Montessori school and Monastery. The campus offers CMS multiple benefits, including an on-site Japanese Garden (Yuko-En) and also a Senior Citizens Center. Our students have frequent interaction with nature at the garden and in the fields of Cardome, as well as with the loving and wise community at the Senior Citizens Center.

We have been rated best Childcare in Georgetown for the past six years. The menus we offer are recommended by local pediatricians and are considered better than the menu offered at public schools. We are a faith based center. Open from 5:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday-Friday. We enroll children between the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years old. All of our staff are CPR/First Aid certified. Our preschool teacher has her CDA and we have other teachers currently pursuing a CDA. Our philosophy is the belief that all children should have the opportunity to grow, learn and develop to their fullest potential. We recognize and accept each child as a unique individual with his/her own strengths and weaknesses and having his/her own rate of growth and development. We intend that this include children with disabilities to the extent that we can meet their needs.
