I am very active and believe in learning through play to stimulate the mind, creativity, and motor skills. I believe it's important to read to, talk to, and use the five senses from infancy to promote creativity and curiosity. I also believe the best way to learn is through talking about and exploring in everyday life. My mom taught her five kids every chance she got by talking about what we saw and how things work whether we were home, at a park, or at a grocery store. I remember being excited to learn new things because of this, and I strive to make learning fun the way she did. I also have a craft area set up downstairs, do lots of hands-on activities, and do fun projects that promote learning. I have a daughter who turned two in March 2018, and I engage her every way I can in creative ways that keep her engaged and eager to learn and try new things. I'm looking to babysit for kids whose parents would value this hands-on approach of learning through play from infancy. We have a large backyard with a sandbox, garden, toddler pool, swing set, and a water table. There are also ball fields where we enjoy watching games and a nice park with a pond nearby where we watch ducks and geese. We frequently go on field trip of all kinds, including to the Children's Museum, Museum of Nature and Science, Butterfly Pavilion, the library for story time, parks around the area, and community events. Healthy foods with great variety are important to me, and my daughter will eat almost every vegetable and almost everything I cook because she's been exposed to so many types of foods. She especially likes picking peas, beans, and strawberries from our garden. I enjoy watching kids use gardening tools, "pull weeds" (and vegetable plants if I'm not quick enough, ha ha!), and water plants as we taste what's growing. I also emphasize manners, respect, sharing, and empathy. The goal is help raise well-rounded, caring children with a strong sense of curiosity and excitement for life. Your child(ren) will be well-loved and stimulated, and my home is somewhere they can grow and where you can be confident I'm working as hard as you are to help raise well-rounded, loving children. I found that, when I was a paralegal and brought my daughter to daycare, she didn't get the attention or interaction I feel is important, so I now do daycare and provide what I believe every child deserves.

Adrienne S. says "Our infant daughter has been under the care of Heather for the last two months. As a first-time mom, I was incredibly nervous about the care my child...

You have the option to do 2, 3 or 4 days per week. The class size will be 6-8 children, no more than 8. The day is rhythmically structured, balancing care for our home contents and us with handicrafts and creative activities. We also celebrate every season with songs, stories, crafts, and festivals. We make together and serve all organic food. A balanced and family oriented atmosphere is provided for each of the children. My goal is to help a child from an early age grow with confidence, creativity and joy.

Hello. My name is Kristi. I opened my family child care business in 2013. In 1996, my first child was born and I was fortunate to be able to stay at home with all four of my children over the years. My home is located in northwest Arvada, in The Landing At Standley Lake neighborhood. It is clean, safe, smoke-free and welcoming so children feel they are in a family home. As well, I have a large fenced-in backyard with lots of shade trees. I am open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. I can be contacted at kristischildcare@gmail.com or 720.643.7704, for your child care needs. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from CU Denver, with an emphasis in early childhood development, and 1 1/2 years of graduate courses in Counseling Psychology/Counseling Education, and Special Education. With the knowledge I gained through my education, along with the experience of raising my family, I have a good understanding of the different needs of children, and of family dynamics. Along with early learning skills and reinforcing good manners needed for entering school, it is my belief that children need time to play, explore their world, and develop their imaginations. I believe it is important for children to be exposed to books, music, toys that challenge their imaginations, and the outdoors as much as possible. I understand how important it is for parents to have peace of mind knowing that their children are safe and being well cared for when in the care of someone else. It is important for me that I maintain open communication with the parents to ensure that your children get the care they deserve. Given our current situation with COVID-19 I have put some policies in place in order to keep families as safe as possible during this time. Thank you.

Gregory B. says "As new parents we were very particular with selecting a home daycare. We wanted a place that would be safe, warm, and had a family feel to it. We found...

Foundations Early Childhood Education

12401 W. 58th Ave Arvada, CO

Foundations Early Childhood Education is an educational based child care center. Kristen started working with children 10 years ago and knew instantly that not only did she love being around children, but she loved educating young children. Through Kristen's experience she learned not only many techniques of teaching young children, but explored her personal style and what means most to her. Most importantly, Kristen learned that as long as children's needs are met and they are shown love in every situation, they are capable of learning vast amounts at a young age. Foundations Early Childhood education is a privately owned, family run business. We strive to create a "home" atmosphere for all children, families and employees. Even though children are taught skills that will prepare them for elementary school and the rest of their lives, each child and family is shown love and compassion. Purpose: Our purpose is to teach all children a love of learning at a young age. We believe that providing children with the skills they need to succeed happens at an early age. Not only do we strive to teach children academic skills at a young age, we strive to teach them social emotional skills. It is our purpose to instill a strong foundation of academic knowledge, self respect, the respect of others and a love of learning. Philosophy: We believe that children learn through exploration and structured hands-on learning. It is the teacher's job to offer opportunities for each child to learn. We believe that every child is able to succeed if they are taught a love of learning and developmentally appropriate academic and social skills. Teaching to the child, rather than the group, is key in laying the foundation to create successful, life-long learners. Lunch and Snacks: Foundations believes that families should be able to choose and guide what their child eats for lunch. In many cases, families have put restrictions in place regarding certain foods. This is why Foundations allows each family to prepare a lunch for their child and bring it to school. Our classrooms are set up to allow families to bring lunch items that need to be heated up (soup, spaghetti, etc). Foundations knows that one of the busiest times of day for families is in the morning. Not only do we recognize each family has to get at least one child ready for their school day, but they have to get themselves ready for work as well. This is why Foundations will offer a choice to each family as well.

Meggin R. says "When I was looking for care options for our daughter in December I was nervous. We had wanted a nanny, but that didn't work out. So I decided,...

I have been a licensed family child care provider and owner of Miss Carrie's Child Care since 2000. My mission statement is "To make a difference in the world through the lives of children with love and education." I believe that if every child has love and education in their lives, they can achieve anything. I believe educators and families work as a team to raise a happy, healthy child. All children are special and have great possibilities. They thrive in an environment where they are loved, protected, stimulated, given responsibilities, and guidelines/rules to follow. Children are unique and learn in diverse ways. I work hard to recognize this, meet children where they are, and help them to reach new heights. I believe in a play-based curriculum, helping children develop socially and emotionally, and preparing for them kindergarten and the future. I currently have an Experienced Child Care license, a level 4 Colorado Shines rating, a level 6 Colorado Early Childhood Professional Credential, an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education, and am director and lead-teacher qualified. As well as loving to educate and care for young children, I love to learn! I am always actively looking for and completing new education as well as looking for ways to improve my program and quality of care I provide. I provide full-time, part-time, and drop-in care from 3 months to 5 years. Drop-in care is based on current availability and only provided for families who are currently enrolled in my program (must interview, be accepted into my program, and have all required paperwork on file). I provide a professionally designed preschool program that is aligned with Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines, parent-teacher conferences, child assessments, well balanced and nutritious meals, a dedicated child care area, and huge outdoor play area where we spend a lot of time year-round. I serve on the board of directors for Jefferson County Child Care Assoc. and am a member of the Colorado Assoc. of Family Child Care, the National Assoc. of Family Child Care, and Kids Nutrition Company food program. I also participate in the Triad Early Childhood Council as well as local collaborative and advisory boards related to early childhood education and health issues. I believe in being a professional in my field and helping others in the process. Contact me for more information or to interview.
