Hands-on Care Needed For My Husband - My husband is able to feed ...
$12 – $20/hr • Part time • Starts Apr 29 • Suffolk, VA
About who needs care: My husband is able to feed himself, dress with help, and walk with or without a walker or with assistance. He also hasdementia but is on medication that keeps him calm but not zonked out. He has a good sense of humor.
I would like help on Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. so that I can get things done at home or run an errand.
He supervised artists/illustrators when in the workforce, so he likes to draw in a sketchbook and paint drawings in paint books. He's also a drummer, so he enjoys listening to music and playing his drum in accompaniment. He plays number and word bingo and also enjoys a walk in his wheelchair through the neighborhood. He likes to play games he can understand. That's how a typical afternoon might be structured. He's easy to please.
About the care needs: The ideal caregiver should be pleasant, patient, and easy-going, with a good sense of humor thrown in!
My husband wears briefs with guard inserts and may need help sometimes to pull down his pants. Otherwise, he gets baths during the week, so the caregiver would not be doing any grooming. He likes to listen to music, draw, and watch cartoons and family-friendly movies. The caregiver could listen to music, watch him draw, play games with him, and watch cartoons and movies with him. They could take him for a walk in his wheelchair. They would be a good companion for him.
Services needed include: errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance. ... more
