The J's Summer Day Camp

My husband and I have been looking to start a summer daycare/camp at our home in Dexter for years and are finally going to put it into action this summer starting June 12! Between the both of us, we have over 30 years of teaching experience (phys. ed,health, life skills, art, math, English, social studies, and special education). We want to place an emphasis on developing self-confidence, social skills, problem-solving techniques, a willingness to attempt new challenges and develop motivation by working together in small groups. It is our hope that in a relaxed summertime atmosphere at our home, kids will have a unique experience, learn healthy lifestyles, gain independence and explore new interests while having fun! The summer program we would like to offer would include but is not limited to a daily schedule of and much more: themes for the week large group activities - games, challenges, obstacles indoor activities - arts and crafts, puzzles, drawing, tee-shirt designing, pottery, cooking, painting, projects, play dough/clay, science experiments outdoor activities - playground, sports, fitness, scavenger hunts, science, swimming, gardening, bouncing, large yard, slip and slide, friendly competitions free play at least 35 minutes of structured exercise a day nature walks/projects snacks provided books/reading rest/down time small group team-building, cooperative games academic support, if needed clean up Hours are 7 am to 6 pm, Monday-Friday starting Wednesday, June 12 throughout entire summer - all abilities and AGES welcome - Many activities that develop self-confidence, social skills, problem-solving techniques, a willingness to attempt new challenges and develop motivation by working together in small groups. Character counts and recognition for demonstrating honesty, respect, responsibility and caring are part of our daily recognition program - a relaxed summertime atmosphere - kids will learn healthy lifestyles, gain independence and explore new interests while having fun!
