My son has been going to Rosie's since he was 3 months old. It was sooo hard to leave him and go back to work but Rosie and John takes such good care of him I quickly relaxed. Now it's his second home.
My 4 year old daughter has been going to Rosie since before she could walk. Rosie has become a part of our extended family. She loves my daughter as her own, and that was what I was looking for in a child care provider. I wanted someone who would care for my child as I would, who would be accommodating to her needs remembering that each child is different, needing a different kind of love and attention than other kids. Rosie has been in the business for a long time, and has come across so many different personalities in the children she has cared for, that I knew she would be patient and kind with my own child. She is so understanding of children, and is truly concerned about their development and growth, emotionally, spiritually and physically. She goes far and beyond for her children. Besides taking care of their basic needs, she invests in educational toys and games for the children, making sure they will be prepared for their transition to kindergarten. There have been moments that I've debated on enrolling my daughter in pre-school due to the same fear other parents have in making sure their children will transition well to elementary school, but my heart always tells me that my daughter has everything she needs with Rosie, and much more. I want my daughter to enjoy her last year as a toddler, to play and learn, and be loved wholeheartedly. I've witnessed older children making the transition to kindergarten from Rosie's and I am amazed at how advanced they are. Because of Rosie's guidance, these children can actually read on their own by mid-year in kindergarten, or even before! It was amazing to witness and I am quite excited for my own child to start school for this reason. Truthfully, my daughter is learning more at Rosie's than I have the time or patience to do so given my full time job. She and her husband, John, are truly wonderful!

Another noteworthy thing about Rosie is how she has treated my older (10 years old) daughter despite not having cared for her as a toddler. Rosie has exhibited the same love and generosity to my older daughter, showering her with presents from time to time, so as not to show any favoritism over either of my daughters. Rosie is so enmeshed in our own family that she has even accompanied us to shows at The Kennedy Center with my other family members.

I have experienced having my older child in another home child care and with both my children in a day care center and nothing can compare to Ring around the Rosie Childcare.

Rosie is a gem and a role model for all providers and moms out there! Her love for the children is unconditional! If you want your child in good hands, in Rosie's arms is where s/he needs to be.
My son has only attended Rosie's for the first week, but I wanted to comment on the experience of finding this family day home. It was very tough to find someone willing to accept my special situation since for the next few months I only need care one day a week. Most of the licensed in-home daycares that I searched on the VA social services website were unwilling to work with my schedule. We had been to several other daycares, including several in-homes as well as a La Petite, and I had yet to find what I was looking for. I wanted someone who genuinely cared for their children and obviously had taken a lot of time and care to set up their business, and the places we'd been to just weren't fitting the bill.

When we went to interview with Rosie, we knew we had found the right place for our son. She has been in business for over twenty years, has maintained contact with many of her previous children and became involved in their lives personally. The Irons have a very spacious home and offer plenty of room for the children to play on their lower level, which was a problem I had come across with some of the other in-home daycares we looked at - they were in townhomes and simply didn't have enough room for the children to play. It's obvious that Rosie and her husband John offer a lot of love to the kids in their care and that to me is the most important factor. The fact that they developed such close relationships with their past children and continue to do so is what made the decision to go with Rosie's easy for me. She also has sparkling reviews from many parents over the years who rave about her teaching skills and how well their child has developed thanks to Rosie's tutelage and care. I imagine that I too will be writing one of those recommendation letters full of gratitude one day.
