We love Children's Village Montessori! My oldest daughter is finishing up her third year and my youngest just started 6 months ago. They have both learned so much and have grown both academically and emotionally.

Each day the children start with circle time where they learn about different subjects. For example my daughter's class has covered: the sunflower (botany), skeletal system (anatomy), North America & the United States (Geography), Stars & Stripes Forever by John Phillips Sousa (Music), Guitar (Instrument), Van Gogh (Art), and the turkey (zoology) among other things. They also cover a new letter sound and shape each week.

After circle time is where the real magic begins... the children work individually selecting one 'work' at a time. The teachers are available to guide and teach the children, but the children choose a work based on their own interests. This might mean that 2 four year olds in the same class might be focused on different activities with one child excited about math and another curious about letter sounds and reading.

Other things we love about CVM include great student to teacher ratio (usually 7 to 1), the chance for the kids to do engineering, gardening, cooking, sewing, music, theatre arts, field trips (Schilter Farm, Science Dome, and Ft. Nisqually), and special events (Dad's Pumpkin Carving, Mother's Tea, and the end of year performance and potluck). We absolutely love CVM! My daughters have learned so much. Ms. Crystal & Mr. Steve (the owners) both make themselves available to chat with parents before and after school. Ms. Crystal is amazingly gifted with children. Whenever you have a question about your child, even if it is something you are struggling with at home, Ms. Crystal knows just what to do.
