Our family has been at Beginnings School for almost six years, and we have had a fantastic experience there. My younger daughter spent three years in the preschool program and my son has been there since he was four months old (he's now in the pre-K room). My older daughter also participated in the after-school program for elementary school students, which she really enjoyed. I can't say enough good things about the caring teachers and administrators, engaging curriculum, and most of all, the emphasis on emotional intelligence and problem solving. Dr. Housman is a leading researcher in this area, and the school benefits greatly from her expertise (and she is very active in the classrooms as well - my kids adore her!) It was amazing to see how my kids learned to manage their strong emotions using the techniques and skills they learned at Beginnings, and now that they're older, I can see that this approach continues to pay dividends as they use their emotional intelligence skills to navigate new challenges. We can't recommend this school highly enough!

We have been very pleased with our experience at Beginnings. My daughter has been in the program for over 2 years now and enjoys going to school each day. The emphasis on social and emotional development has been very helpful and the founder Dr. Housman is a wonderful expert and resource with parenting challenges. The teachers are warm and engaging and I am continually amazed at the creative curriculum ideas developed to keep the kids engaged and learning.

Beginnings was a an enriching and wonderful early childhood experience for my daughter and son. They came away from their time at Beginnings with solid communication skills and and an empathy towards their peers. I still smile when I drive by and I think of their time at the school.

My son attended Beginnings when we first moved to the area and his experience was better than anything we could have hoped for. He loved going to school and we could see him becoming more confident every day. The teachers are well trained, attentive and tuned into the needs of each child in their care. The school focuses on developing a child's emotional skills and confidence which for our child opened up his interest in learning. Dr. Housman has created a social and learning environment that is the envy of schools in the Boston area. Impressive!

I sent both my kids to Beginnings and worked very closely with the founder, Dr Housman. My children excelled and still talk about their days in pre school. They loved the outdoor classroom, the peace table and Wings with Dr Housman. I am friends with many of the families I met while there. It has a wonderful campus, safe classrooms and patient teachers. Dr Housman has an open door policy which I used many times. She was always around to answer my questions and guide my children. I am very happy with the decision I made to send my children to Beginnings.

The founder and CEO is egotistical and only cares about her research and getting your money. She cares little for the children. She has a good philosophy, but it's not implemented well and the children suffer for it. Beware if you are vocal about something you are concerned about regarding the school or a teacher, you could very easily get your kid kicked out of the school immediately!

This school is fantastic. I sent my son to Beginnings and it has provided so many long-term benefits to him. The emphasis at the school is helping children develop what's really important at this age - strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage emotions, work collaboratively with other children, overcome frustration - in short the social and emotional skills children and adults need. My youngest still carries those skills he learned at Beginnings with him daily and he is thriving as a result! I am so grateful for the experience he had at Beginnings. The teachers were great. The way they have taught for thirty years at Beginnings is now being recognized nationally as the way young children should be taught.

Was a great school until early 2015 when the director left. Shortly after, there was a mass exodus of teachers and many of the new teachers and administration were subpar. I would caution anyone looking to enroll their child since it has become a very money hungry place focused on research and the bottom line, not on your child's growth or well being. Read the contract before signing...it's very one-sided.

The school has a great philosophy but is not able to maintain staff for more than a year which is very sad for a program teaching young children 0-5 years. This year they lost some great teachers along with the school Director which was very difficult for everyone.

We can't say enough good things about Beginnings. My first child started there 3 years ago in the youngest (Seedling) room, where our second child is now. The director, who moved into that position about 2 years ago is outstanding and really moved the school from being great to being exceptional. We have also been highly impressed with the teachers in every classroom. In the baby room, the teachers are nearly always on the floor playing with the children, reading books, and singing songs. They do an incredible job and have a thorough understanding of child development and the importance of engaging even the youngest children in activities to develop language and social and emotional skills. In the preschool classroom, the teachers use exciting activities to teach the children about everything from physics (e.g., they learned about gravity by building ramps and dropping different types of object!) to animal habitats. Throughout the school, there is a focus on social emotional development and cooperation that has been incredibly effective at enhancing our children's confidence, empathy, and friendships. On top of all of this, our children LOVE going to school.

It is such a pleasure when your children love to go to school! All three of our boys have attended Beginnings, and each grew tremendously while there. Beginnings really imparts a strong sense of community and a deep love of learning in the children. My boys are all very different from one another, and the program was excellent for all of them. One of my best memories was when my eldest found his words there to tell his friends when he did not like what they were doing. This has served him well in many situations as he has grown. He is also a champion for those who have not found their own voice. I also remember fondly when my middle son would leave each day, his classmates would give him a hug and wish him well--such a loving community. My youngest is still there being stimulated every day. He is able to leverage his learning there in so many ways and be very creative at school and at home. He has been "educating" me about all the countries his class has "visited" this year. As a family, we have enjoyed many wonderful days at Beginnings!
