Special Needs Care Available
From 2006 to 2012, I lived overseas in Haiti as the Director of a Special Needs Facility. I oversaw an orphanage, school, outreach and a hospice care for kiddos and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, Genetic Disorders, Brain Damage, Sensory Disorder, etc. In 2012 to 2014 I worked as a behavioral therapist with autistic kiddos from non verbal, aggressive to high functioning. I also worked as a independent life coach for those with learning disabilities seeking life skill tutoring in teaching everything from meal preparation, money sense, social skills etc. I also have hands on experience here in the states working with medically fragile children such as those with cerebral palsy as a one on one aid in school setting and in home. I also have experience as a nanny for a very aggressive teenage boy with autism in providing structured activities, routine, behavioral plan, outings and more. I am not medically trained but have had experience in distributing medication, feeding tubes, oxygen, changing diapers, occupational and physical therapy experience. I have a heart, passion and experience working with those with disabilities. I am very creative and am able to work with the kid s strengths to help them thrive. I come with creative play therapy items such as learning through blocks, puzzles, games, etc.

A Special Nana
I have been involved with a child for over 10 yrs. That lives with my son. He was 3 when he arrived and will be 14 yrs old in Jan. He has hunters disease and has went down hill a lot within the last couple of years. Because I have worked part time I have always been involved within his care. I used to take him for his infusions for years and he currently has those at home with a nurse due to his current health issues. I still babysit when they need me. My son takes care of special needs & there have been several children over the years with various medical issues that lived within their home. I was their nana along with the care of my own grandchildren who now at 10 & 12/ a boy and girl. Needless to say parents who has special children are very careful of those they entrust with their loved ones and they should be. I am currently making a career change into childcare & this info is within my bio information. My goal is to have arrangement by Jan. 2017 I appreciate your time, Mary

FullTime Licensed Special Education Teacher
I have 7 years of experience serving clients with needs such as those experienced by you. I am very interested and can start right away. I provide undivided assistance and seamless uninterrupted superior care to clients. I maintain a spotless home or living space, am a phenomenal healthy cook, a master organizer and an innately compassionate person. I am additionally highly experienced having spent many years assisting clients within their home or nursing home; medication monitoring, bathing, exercise, mental stimulation, companionship, errands, medical appointments, dementia, ALS, diabetes, brain trauma, etc. I view care-giving as a calling, not a job. I am highly educated (with a BS, ME. d., and Ed. S., degrees) having spent many years as a certified public school teacher. I have also worked in residential treatment centers for children and adults. Drug screening and national background checks no problem. I have also already had a TB test. I would love an opportunity to share more about my compatibility. I am an empty nester; my two children are both in college, thus availability at short notice or live in is not a problem.

Full Time Medical Care Taker/ Nanny
I am a Senior at IUPUI, studying psychology and neuroscience to help me eventually get into an occupational therapy graduate program. I love children, and have been working with two families for the past year. Both families have a child with special needs and a non-disabled child in them and I do a variety of work from administering medications and bolus feeding to amazing swing pushing skills and the ability to read chicka chicka boom boom with the same energy at least 5 times in a day! I think that children are amazing, they are constantly growing physically, mentally, and emotionally and its so very important that those things are nurtured and that they are allowed to explore who they are! I am ready to move to a new place but I will forever be incredibly close with the families that I have worked for in the past. I would love to answer any other questions you may have and I look forward to meeting you and your little one, whomever you may be!
