My experience as a caregiver started with my family, so I am not a big fan of the distant, cold and clinical approach. I know it's possible to do a great job while making someone smile and feel cared for. I'm outgoing and easy to get along with and I love to laugh and have fun. When my mom got breast cancer, I left my career as an editor to dedicate myself to her. I studied hundreds of pages of medical records in order to fully educate myself so I could advocate for her. I didn't leave her side for the last six months of her life and worked with hospice to make her comfortable. When my father died, I got my grandmother out of a nursing home where he'd placed her for Alzheimer's. She spent her last two years in our home, surrounded by family, much happier than she'd been in the facility. We organized pictures, went shopping, played games and swam. I made her all of her favorite dishes and she ate like a king - when a person is no longer able to do most of the things that made them happy, there's always good food! I organized all of her doctors and specialists and worked with Hospice of the Valley to create a treatment plan for the final days of her life. She passed away at 94 with me at her side. I decided to continue care-giving as a career because I can't think of anything more rewarding than making someone happy during this really tough stage of life. I will take care of your loved one as my own. I have references from previous positions who still consider me part of their family. My last position was caring for a sweet lady with Alzheimer's. We joined a bowling league, created a fairy garden, went swimming, took walks in the park, played games and created art. When she'd get anxious, I reminded her that our only job was to have fun, and we did! SKILLS I have experience in every aspect of assisting with personal hygiene, toileting, or changing someone who is bedridden. I'm skilled in the care of bedsores and repositioning. I know how to read nonverbal cues for pain and have experience administering and managing medication. I am 5'9", strong, and adept at wheelchair transfer maneuvers & have experience using a Hoyer lift. AVAILABILITY I do have transportation & would be happy to go on outings, shop for groceries or assist with doctor's appointments. I'm available full-time, part-time or occasionally for respite. I can do overnights or extended stays, should you need to go on a trip.

Love Giving Care Needed!
I got into this field in 2001 because a group of hospice workers that took care of my Great Grand Father. These ladies really showed me that this was for me; helping those in need of a little extra attention. I have been doing this since that time and love every bit of it. I have experience with all age groups, many disabilities and disorders. I mainly love working with children because they are new to the world and so innocent and tell you like it is. I mainly love working with seniors because they have lived a longer life than me, have given to the world and can teach me a thing or two. I believe that they have taken care of us and now it is my time too take care of them.

Daytime Or Nighttime, Honest And Caring
My name is Cylestia, but I go by Fran. I enjoy working with seniors because they have humility and wisdom that only comes from experience in life. I am CPR/first aid certified and have experience administering medications - including injections - as well as logging all care in medical journals. Because of this record keeping and attention to detail, anyone can look at my journals and know the level of care their loved one is receiving. My husband passed away this year on January 9, so I relocated to Phoenix in September to be closer to my family. I work hard to take as much stress off the family as I can so they may enjoy their loved ones and enhance their quality of life. I love to cook for others, so I do not mind helping in that area - or doing light cleaning or laundry. I hope to find a family or person who will need my services and appreciate the extras I bring to the home. Please contact me so I can further demonstrate how my skill sets can bring value to your home.
