Back in August of 2017 I received my CNA through Arizona Medical Training Institution, where I spent my clinical practicing in two different long-term care and rehabilitation facilities. The residents I served here were primarily elderly and I will always treasure the memories I made with them. Despite being in hospice care and/or intensely struggling with their health, I fell in love with their wisdom, humility, and (most of all) sense of humor. Throughout my clinical time I had the opportunity to provide basic healthcare to the residents, including brief changes, bathing, feeding, transferring and ambulation, oral care, etc.
Beyond my clinicals, I was also employed by a family for around a year to help with the care of their adult son. He suffered from a plethora of both physical and mental disease, and the family required assistance to manage his medications, mental health, weight, etc. I learned a lot working in this more intimate setting.
