Hands-on Care Needed For My Mother - My mother, 92, was recently...

Part Time $18 – 45/hr Starts 06/08 Jacksonville Beach, FL
About who needs care: My mother, 92, was recently diagnosed with Dementia. She's full of life but is quickly losing her short-term memory. She often repeats herself and gets confused but is full of energy and good conversation! She is widowed and loves to play cards or go on slow walks around her neighborhood. She enjoys breakfast and sweets. She lives alone and I, her daughter, lives 35 minutes away, making it hard to tend to her while she's at her home. She stays with me Monday - Wednesday and is alone Thursday - Sunday. She loves good conversation, a good laugh and to take care of others, though, she can hardly do-so anymore. She no longer drives and does need to run errands from time to time. She is early in her dementia and is still fully functional, though, in denial that she has any ailments. She is reluctant to the idea of "needing help" but we are worried she is missing meals or suffering from boredom! A friend is what we are seeking but one with a nursing background that could care for her for longer periods of time when she declines. About the care needs: A nurturing person who is patient and kind-hearted. A nursing background or similar experience is required as we expect her dementia to worsen sooner than later and we will need to increase visit/care times. Someone who is regimented and can help her with keeping a schedule of cooking, eating and taking her vitamins. Someone to travel to and from the grocery store, take her to get her nails done, hair done, and help her in and out of the car. She loves to play cards/games, go on walks and sit outside watching the day go by. Most importantly, she loves to talk and get to know people. She's very kind-hearted but stubborn about the fact of her illness. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
