I am a small in home daycare, licensed by the state of Connecticut. I have medication certified and CPR First aide certified. My belief system is that children are capable of amazing things when provided with an environment that nurtures their desire to learn and be independent. I love watching children explore nature while we spend quite a bit of time outdoors (dependent on weather) and inside exploration working on colors, numbers, matching, coloring, scissor skills. I'm all for messy play with play doh, paint and anything that inspires little kids.

Goal Childcare

Boston Hill Rd Andover, CT

I provide a developmentally appropriate environment for children of varying ages. I earned a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Development, have taught preschool - grade 4, and had been doing in home childcare for 7 years, before moving to CT in 2013. I believe children flourish in a safe, comfortable atmosphere where they are free to explore, discover and create. We spend lots of time outside. We make messes and create art. We explore letters and numbers in a way that allows children to naturally learn at their own pace. We have fun with music and movement.

Did Speech Therapy work one on one for two years with boys who had no speech or real efforts to communicate. Planned and implemented daily speech work beginning with the vocal sounds the child make on a regular basis. I came up with the idea of utilizing mirrors to help the child form words with their mouth. Starting with the vocal sounds they could make, I used flash cards displaying pictures of objects that began with the vocal sound to reinforce the use of that sound as part of a word. This was very rewarding for the child. Reinforced the vocal theme with music, toys, puzzles and all tools we used until the next sound or letter was introduced. Taught location themes: above, below, behind, in, on, next to with the use of favorite toys. Taught basic numbers and letters math and writing skills. Responsibilities included potty training, teaching to feed themselves, and encouraging trying and eating new foods. Body motor skills: teaching to throw and kick a ball, ride a tricycle, run, and swing, weekly swimming lessons. Fine motor skills were taught with use of coloring, play dough, cutting, pasting, stringing beads and sand and water play. I made the decision to provide a well-rounded child care for kids in the area- in a very small setting (with that being said- I will only take a couple of kids). I am excited to bring my vast experience and background to help children develop age-appropriate skills- my goal is to provide many hands-on activities and offer more than just a traditional "daycare". I have developed a language program to bring Russian language and culture to young children. I have taught in many different capacities including teaching English Language learners, students with special needs and a teacher of mathematics (Russian method).
