I am a small in home daycare, licensed by the state of Connecticut. I have medication certified and CPR First aide certified. My belief system is that children are capable of amazing things when provided with an environment that nurtures their desire to learn and be independent. I love watching children explore nature while we spend quite a bit of time outdoors (dependent on weather) and inside exploration working on colors, numbers, matching, coloring, scissor skills. I'm all for messy play with play doh, paint and anything that inspires little kids.

The Nest Home Day Care is a safe, nurturing, and encouraging atmosphere for children 6 weeks through 5 years old. My goal is to provide a stimulating and fun environment for children while encouraging social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. Your child will receive quality personal and individualized care in a warm and loving environment. At The Nest, I believe that children learn best through play and exploration. Whether it is investigating the dirt box outside, playing fun games indoors, or spending time exploring books all on their own, I will help to facilitate activities that children enjoy. Special seasonal activities will also be a regular part of time spent at The Nest, including summer days playing in the sprinkler or plenty of fun in the snow in the winter! I believe in positive reinforcement and redirection when children are testing the limits and learning the rules. I will provide a structured environment that is flexible enough to respect the child and their individuality while at the same time providing routine that children need to learn and flourish. And above all else, I believe that it is most important to treat children with love and respect.

Did Speech Therapy work one on one for two years with boys who had no speech or real efforts to communicate. Planned and implemented daily speech work beginning with the vocal sounds the child make on a regular basis. I came up with the idea of utilizing mirrors to help the child form words with their mouth. Starting with the vocal sounds they could make, I used flash cards displaying pictures of objects that began with the vocal sound to reinforce the use of that sound as part of a word. This was very rewarding for the child. Reinforced the vocal theme with music, toys, puzzles and all tools we used until the next sound or letter was introduced.
