Medication Prompting And Mobility Assistance Full-time Support Needed For My Father In Novi, MI.

Full Time $15 – 25/hr Starts 01/01 Novi, MI
Seeking care for my father in his 70s. Services needed: companionship, bathing / dressing, feeding, meal preparation, medication prompting, help staying physically active, mobility assistance, transportation. Looking for someone with 3+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: CPR/first aid training, support for chronic illness, nursing experience, support for memory care. A little more about my father: he can be anxious, grouchy. A very hardworking, independent, and self reliant person. He used to be a very good conversationalist, but now with dementia he does not talk as much. My father raised me as a single father of a little 3-year-old girl. He could fix or build anything. He's 73 years old, had a major stroke that left his entire right side paralyzed 22 years ago. He is type 2 diabetic and takes insulin twice a day. He also has vision and hearing impairments. With dementia set in he has become almost completely incompetent in regards to urine. He is almost wheelchair bound completely, but can walk around 20 steps or so. This is before the sundowners kicks in the late after noon between 3 and 4. He gets more confused & agitated. It helps to makes sure he has his medicine on schedule before the episode starts. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty, strong, fond of pets, outdoorsy. Someone who wont let a grumpy old man upset them. Who can cooperate with a stubborn old man. Someone who is experienced in Alzheimer's or dementia. Someone who is not allergic to cats. Someone who likes cats or doesn't mind them. My dad used to love visiting & talking with friends & family. He likes car rides. His dementia seems to be progressing fairly quickly. He gets confused easily. He likes sports like football, basketball, and baseball. As of right now I am my fathers only caregiver. I have gone down to working only 4 hours a week. Would like to work around 20 hours a week again. My dad has many different doctors for various reasons. Most appointments I can take him, but easy ones going with a caregiver would give me a little break. I want to try & keep my dad occupied with various activities etc so he doesn't become so anxious and still has some quality of life. I want to keep my dad home instead of him going into a memory care facility for as long as I possibly can. I LOVE HIM SOO MUCH!!
