Seeking care for my grandmother in her 90s. Services needed: companionship, meal preparation, medication prompting, mobility assistance, light housekeeping, errands / shopping. Specialized care needs: support for memory care. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my grandmother: she can be anxious, lethargic, pleasant, grouchy, reserved, independent. Marie has Alzheimer's dementia and can be very unpredictable. At night she gets sun downing syndrome, but during the day she can be quite fun or just asleep. Marie has a lot of anxiety. We worry about her because she will start asking for people who have past away and forget our names and start crying. She is taking meds to help all of that and on good days we sit and talk or take a nap. I'm looking for someone who is patient. We need someone who knows a little about dementia or is willing to learn. Our ideal caregiver can be pleasant and patient even when Marie cannot. We are hoping to find a happy calm female who can give Marie company or space if she needs it and we need some housekeeping help when she is napping. Marie wants to be independent but she is unable to do a lot of things on her own so it's important to make her feel independent. My sister and mother live in this house together with my grandmother, Marie, and they work a lot and then need to give my grandmother full attention or else she gets upset so the dishes never get done, the fridge and pantry is always empty, no on has time to cook dinner and thus we need a lot of help. I'd like to do the job with the new caregiver a few times so they can get the hang of it. We are also willing to up the pay for someone who can actually get everything we need done including some housekeeping and grocery shopping.
