Seeking care for my mother in her 80s. Services needed: companionship, bathing / dressing, feeding, meal preparation, medication prompting, mobility assistance, light housekeeping. No prior experience required. Specialized care needs: nursing experience, support for memory care. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my mother: she can be pleasant, reserved. My mom is in the mid stages of vascular dementia. She is pretty much bed bound, and does not walk anymore. She is always pleasant and in a good mood. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty, firm, strong, fond of pets. The ideal caregiver must be patient, thorough, caring, and treat my parents as if they were her own parents. She MUST have experience with dementia and Alzheimer's patients and know how to handle them when they are confused or sundowning. I will not tolerate being short tempered or angry with my parents. She must be energetic and willing to help with daily laundry and household chores. It's important to us for the caregiver to enrich our parents' daily lives by interacting with them, having them do little art projects, or anything that will stimulate their brains. Letting them sleep all day and not get them up and out of bed is NOT an option.
We currently have a caregiver who is usually here Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 pm, but she has not been here several days per week. At first it will be an "on call" situation, with the possibility of becoming full time Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
