ADVENTURE IN ARTHOUSE FOREST Join us for a morning of sparkles and creative fun! At this camp your child will create a unique painting of the moon rising behind a forest using acrylic paint and glitter on canvas board. Your child will come home with a completed work of art. Rebel Art Summer Camps are full of exploration, creative excitement, and just plain fun! Much like our teen school year classes, we will offer the flexibility of having planned projects for those who don't necessarily have a clear idea of what to create, as well as more of an open studio for those who are ready to dive into all those projects in their heads (with the guidance of our teachers). We offer everything from drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, printmaking to sculpture. Please note that due to time constraints, we do not offer ceramics in this program during summer camps (please check out our Rebel Ceramics program if interested in working with ceramics). We break up the week by hosting camp in different locations. Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays are hosted at the studio at 1444 South Main st., and Tuesdays/Thursdays we meet at local parks. This unique opportunity is only offered during summer camps and is incredibly special as it allows campers to experience working in plein air (from life outside) as well as in the studio for a complete art experience. Please note that we keep a close watch on the weather and air quality and will relocate to the studio if it will be too hot or poor air.

Each morning and afternoon, campers dive into a brand-new art project inspired by a different animal. From rainforest parrots and jungle cats to ocean creatures, polar wildlife, and more. Through painting, drawing, sculpting, and mixed media, campers explore habitats, colors, patterns, and textures while bringing their favorite animals to life. With endless species to discover, every session becomes a new artistic adventure. Budding artists capturing multiple objects tend to begin with the largest or most attractive one first, finish it, and move on to the next. By studying multiple object composition, line and air perspective, as well as color mixing, students learn to depict multiple three-dimensional objects and build a solid foundation for future artistic study. Our academic method of teaching will open the eyes and minds of aspiring artists to see the myriad of colors and tones in everyday objects. With these foundational skills, students will learn techniques to express their creativity. Classes alternate between Drawing and Painting on a weekly basis. All skill levels welcome. Students will learn to draw and paint multiple objects as a group taking into account proportions, depth, structures, along with light and shadows. Using acrylic or oil, students will flex these core principles of composition to attain the freedom to draw and paint three-dimensional still-life, landscapes and fictional paintings. Procuring painting and drawing materials are the responsibility of each student, but we are of course happy to advise which ones we think are best.

In this class your child will refine their fine motor skills as they learn to draw, paint, and sculpt, while also learning a little art history. Each session features a new theme and introduces young artists to a variety of materials, techniques, and creative styles. From painting and drawing to mixed media projects, children will explore, create, and express themselves in exciting new ways. We'll get inspired as we use a variety of media; sculpture, paint, pastels, pencils, and so much more to explore animals and their habitats! This week we are experimenting with application as we mimic the influential American artist Helen Frankenthaler. Inventor of the soak stain technique, Frankenthaler pushed the boundaries of color field painting in abstract expressionism. So to celebrate this marvelous approach, we too will be pouring paint instead of using brushes! Students will have the opportunity to explore color mixing as we learn about the color wheel and its various approaches. Then, we will give each concoction a chance to shine as it gets cascaded over the canvas in a spectacular free fall.

You’ll let your imagination run wild as you: Build castles and fairy gardens using cardboard, clay, natural materials, and colorful decorations. - Craft fairy wands, magic potion bottles, and other magical tools to spark your own stories. - Design crowns, tiaras, or royal costumes to bring your favorite fairy tale characters to life. - Tell and act out your own fairy tales, sharing adventures with your friends in a magical kingdom you’ve helped create. Every day is filled with hands-on, imaginative projects, from sculpting and decorating to painting, crafting, and storytelling. By the end of the week, you’ll have your very own collection of magical creations to take home—and memories of a whimsical kingdom you helped bring to life! This workshop is perfect if you love magic, storytelling, building, and creating—and want to spend a week exploring a world where anything is possible.

Join us for this weekly painting class for all ages! Our teacher will guide you through a step-by-step acrylic on canvas painting, but if you want to add your own ideas and personality to your painting - we encourage it! This is a class for all, both children and adults are welcome! We will be painting on an 11x14 stretched canvas using acrylic paints.

Now available every Saturday! Kids can come in and work on their own projects or take advantage of our experienced instructors and learn something new. Students may also take on ambitious, ongoing projects if they would like. Studio Time can be used to develop new skills or strengthen current skills. All of our studio resources will be available to students during this time. Parents may drop-in last minute if they would like, buy a class-pack to use anytime during the fall semester, or register in advance. Students may choose to do ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, animation, collage, mixed media, sculpture, printmaking, screen printing, or anything else we have the resources to do. Sky's the limit!
