Art Classes in New Haven, CT

During the month of October, students will be learning about Tim Burton. Tim Burton is an American filmmaker, artist, and producer known for his gothic and fantasy films. We will be creating our own interpretation of his nightmare before Christmas characters. We will use pencil and pen. Advanced art projects will NOT be completed in one week. These are longer projects and take up to 4 classes to complete. We work with a variety of mediums and take our art to different levels with shading and details.

There’s no place like… The Giggling Pig! Join us for a dazzling painting of Dorthy’s famous ruby slippers. Students will practice form as they recreate this iconic accessory, discussing concepts of color and contrast to implement a triadic color scheme. With a click of the heels and a sprinkle of glitter, students will follow this yellow brick road to a masterpiece of their own making.

We’re getting into the spirit of the season at The Giggling Pig with a tactile paper sculpture. The class will begin by constructing a paper cone, then they will be charged with the task of transforming it into a decorative pine tree. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with different materials to fully express their unique vision and walk away with a creation of their own design.

Autumn has just begun and we want to celebrate the beauty it has to offer, so join us and kick off the start of the season with this colorful watercolor creation. Beginning with observational line drawings, we will challenge perception and dexterity to mimic the intricate patterns of fallen autumn leaves. Students will then explore color theory as they experiment with mixing and overlay, letting their creations come to life with a brilliant pop of color.
