Robert was inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame in 2011.'n' Rose featuring Robertand Heidi "Heidi Ho" Rosenbaum won the 2019 South Florida Blues Challenge in the solo/duo category. They went to Memphis in 2020 and made it to the semi-finals in the International Blues Challenge Johnny Winter recorded one of Robert's songs, "Sittin' In The Jailhouse". Robert began his music journey with piano lessons for a couple of months at the age of 12 but he was far more interested in sports and quit. He started playing guitar at the age of 16 and started singing about a year later. He started writing soon after that. Over the years, he developed his skills further by taking lessons from Howard Morgen the great jazz guitarist and writer. Robert recorded and performed with Big Joe Turner and also backed up Lightning Hopkins, Brownie McGhee, Otis Rush, Mama Thornton, and many other blues legends. The RobertBand has opened for numerous blues and rock and roll legends. Though Robert can teach many different genres of music, his favorite genres are blues and traditional jazz which had great influence on his playing style. Robert loves music and feels that it is in his blood and he loves teaching music because he is inspired by creative students who love to learn. The competition was organized by The South Florida Blues Society.
