I’m Allen, a Chicago-based musician and educator. I play and teach the piano, clarinet, and saxophone. I have been playing music for 40 years and teaching aspiring musicians for over 25 years. When I was 10, I began my musical journey and started to learn the clarinet, studying with promising educators such as Walter Woolridge, a clarinetist from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. When I was 11, I took up the piano and at age 15, I began to learn the saxophone. I also attended Roosevelt University where I studied with outstanding professors such as Ralph Dodds who became my musical mentor. To further my education, I also studied music theory, aural skills, form and analysis, and composition. I currently teach at Westmont Music Academy where I teach piano, clarinet, saxophone and show students how to read and memorize music. I help students grow with their musical education and prepare for recitals. In addition to teaching music, I am also a performer. Some of my performances include the Crusade for Education telethon, solo saxophone performances broadcasted live from the Museum of Science and Industry and One First National Plaza, and outdoor festivals including the Taste of Polonia with the band Aux Noise. I have also performed as a solo clarinetist with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. I am also a composer and have original music available on all streaming platforms. Whether you are just starting out or are a seasoned musician, with my experience in performance and education, I am excited to help you grow with their musical education. -Education- Degree: Instrumental Performance Music Theory School: Roosevelt University Dates: 1987-08
