Kristy P.

20140 SW Bernice Lane Beaverton, OR

10 mi

I will provide after school care for local elementary school students. This includes picking up from school, child care until up to 6 p.m., homework assistance (for an extra fee), and an afternoon snack. My family and I live behind a school which allows pick up from the school very easy, rain or shine. I have my food handlers card and I am First Aid/CPR and AED certified. My child care experience started as a teenager, earning cash as a babysitter since I was 12 years old. I became a full-time professional nanny at 18 years old while taking courses in Early Childhood Education. Although I did not receive a degree, I still utilize the teachings I learned to this day as a mother of 3 boys. I have chosen after school care so I may spend mornings being with, and providing preschool to my 2 younger boys. I will consider picking up or dropping off for morning or afternoon kindergarten with partial day care.

Why I'm here... I recently had a friend come to me and vent her struggle to find consistent reliable daycare for her children. Her sitter had recently quit on her with little notice, and she couldn't find anyone full time that was open for the hours she needed. I helped her when I could, but I was working a full time job myself. I realized that this wasn't the first time I had heard this problem. Anyone with kids knows the difficulty that comes with trying to find daycare, especially those who don't work a regular 9-5 job. That's when I decided, with all my years of childcare experience I could do something to help. I am here to provide a safe, caring, nurturing, and fun environment! I am also here to help out parents who have had a difficult time finding childcare that is flexible with hours. Don't get off work until 8-9pm? That's fine! I will be happy to provide a nutritious dinner, help get homework done, and so on. A little about me... I come from a large family, and am the oldest of 5 kids. Basically I grew up caring for little ones. Once I was old enough I started babysitting for relatives, neighbors and family friends. I graduated high school and joined the workforce. I spent a few years managing a Starbucks, and then ventured into the world of technology and became an Apple Product Professional. I've been putting myself through college as well. I am currently two science course away from an Associates of Art, and plan on continuing on for a bachelors. I want to eventually start painting murals for families and small business's. Now that I am in my late twenties I have continued to provide childcare for my friends and co-workers, and decided I wanted to make it a full time gig. I am conveniently located just at the edge of SE Portland. Right where SE meets Milwaukie, Clackamas, and Happy Valley. The one thing I do not provide is transportation. Drop off and pick up are required.
