Senior Care Provider
I have several years of experience working with seniors. I worked at an adult daycare center. Part of my daily work was transporting clients to and from the center, providing breakfast/and or lunch, Dr.'s appointments, hairdresser appointments, food shopping, errands needed, arts & crafts activities provided at the center, personal care, and just keeping those people who needed some companionship happy. I was passionate about my job because I really enjoyed spending time and helping out our clients when needed. It was a very rewarding experience for me, and it allowed me to hear many stories of these individuals lives, good and bad. It makes me feel good when I know I am helping others!
I also took care of a 79 yr. old woman for about 1 1/2 yrs. She had a variety of health issues, some serious, but didn't want to live anywhere but home. She had very bad arthritis, macular degeneration which affected her eyesight, and a lung problem, which made it difficult for her to breath at times. After a while, she ended up on oxygen. I made her meals for her, food shopping, doctor appointments, hairdresser appointments, and ran errands when needed. I also assisted her with her showers whenever she needed them. I was also there to be a companion for one patient. We had a lot of fun together!!
Her health issues unfortunately caught up to her, and she passed away in January. Taking care of her was very rewarding, and I'm glad I was able to be there for her.
