In 1987 I became a live-in caregiver for an 88-year-old woman. It was a rewarding experience that lasted for 2 1/2 years and led to the creation of my own business. Established in 1990, Cape Companions provided 24-hour in-home care to many elderly people on Cape Cod, MA. I retired from my business in 2005 and returned to live-in caregiving. I am a patient and cheerful helper and a good cook, I provide personal care and medication management, and I have experience with dementia and bipolar disorder. For me, there is a great deal of satisfaction in helping someone continue to live the lifestyle they're accustomed to and to maintain their sense of freedom and vitality. I currently provide 24-hour live-in care, 7 days a week. I look forward to meeting my new friend.
