The Stepping Stone Family Child Care is also conveniently located near Pershing, OV Open, Twin Lakes and Andrew Carngie Elementary Schools (all within a 2-mile radius of our location) for those of you with children attending close by. The school opens at 6:30 a.m. for extended care and ends at 6:30 p.m with extended care. We begin our daily academic schedule at 8:30 a.m. with P.E. for 1/2 hour, followed by the core subjects of math, language arts, science, and social science from 9:00 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. with a 20 minute break after 100 minutes. The electives in the afternoon are Latin, Spanish, voice, instrumental music, drama, art, service learning, and home economics (finance, cooking, garden, and crafts). The foreign language classes are 4 days of 50 minutes. We also have a class meeting for 1/2 hour a week to work on virtues and communication skills. Field trips are part of the curriculum. The primary grades have reading in the afternoon for 50 minutes and constructive games for the last 45 minutes. The school day ends at 3:00 p.m. and extended care begins.
