I taught elementary school for 10 years before opening my child care business in 2008. I have helped run a summer child care program and after-school program. I am licensed and run a structured daycare which includes a preschool curriculum that aligns with Illinois early learning standards for children 3-5 years old. The children learn letters and sounds, complete worksheets and crafts, practice recognizing and writing letters and numbers, and participate in games that reinforce letter sounds and counting. We also work on shapes, colors, patterns, graphing, and sequencing. We pledge allegiance to the flag daily and learn to spell and write our names. We sing color songs, days of the week, months of the year, and ABC's daily. I have had several parents keep their children here instead of sending them to a different public or private preschool as they feel they are learning just as much here as they would there. I strive to teach the children the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful in kindergarten. So, you are getting preschool and childcare for one reasonable rate and the children do not have to go back and forth from preschool to childcare. I also incorporate daily learning experiences into our day with all the children (we count our snacks and toys, talk about colors of our food and toys we play with, read books, etc.). I am DCFS certified and have never had a violation in the 15 years I have had my business. I work with the USDA food program so you can be assured your children are receiving healthy meals and snacks. I am also First Aid and CPR certified. I provide care for children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.
