My first opportunity to be a caregiver was in April 2000, when my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. I spent the next 13 months pouring my life into loving & serving her. It was then that I realized how difficult it is to care for a loved one. During that time, I developed a passion for serving others. I have worked with 6 women and 2 men over the past 17 years with illnesses ranging from mild dementia to advanced Alzheimer's. I love serving them & have formed strong bonds with them. Depending on the patients physical demands, I do so much more than just care-giving. I clean, cook, do laundry, grocery shop, maintain meds, take them out to eat, doctor visits & anything else needed to help the family care for their loved one. I want to help alleviate the stress for the family. I enjoy engaging the patients in activities that they enjoy. I also try to keep them physically & mentally active. CPR and First Aid certified.
